Newcastle launch immediate bid for new target after Munoz blow and rocked by yet another rejection…

Newcastle makes an immediate move for a new target following the setback with Munoz and faces yet another rejection.

After losing out on Victor Munoz due to Liverpool’s unexpected intervention, Newcastle United has encountered further disappointment in their quest to sign a Serie A standout.

Liverpool disrupts Newcastle’s pursuit of Munoz.

It’s a familiar scenario for the Magpies, who have once again been outmaneuvered by the club at Anfield. Last summer, they struggled to retain Alexander Isak, only for the Reds to finalize their acquisition, and they also missed out on Hugo Ekitike to Liverpool. The last thing Newcastle needed was a repeat of this situation a year later.

Munoz seemed destined to join Newcastle, as they had a clear path without competition from other Premier League teams. The Osasuna player was set to be the replacement for Anthony Gordon.

However, in the current market, they cannot afford to hesitate, and a momentary delay allowed Liverpool to swoop in and secure the Spaniard’s signature, leaving the Magpies back at square one.

Now, those in Tyneside have a lot of work ahead and have redirected their attention to signing a Serie A talent, making an offer to secure their second deal of the summer.

Newcastle receives feedback after their offer for a Serie A prospect.

In an effort to bounce back from the Munoz situation, the Magpies have shifted gears. According to TuttoMercatoWeb in Italy, as reported by Sport Witness, Newcastle has made an offer of approximately €10m (£9m) to sign Sergei Levak.

However, Atalanta promptly rejected this bid, which must feel like a recurring theme for those at St James’ Park, as they have been informed that the Italian club has no plans to sell this summer.

The 20-year-old midfielder is emerging as a star in Italy and has caught Newcastle’s attention. Yet, similar to last year, it appears that Eddie Howe and his team may face another summer filled with rejections.

Although Levak has not yet established himself in Atalanta’s first team, he was considered one of the top talents in Serie C last season. The club’s choice to decline Newcastle’s offer indicates that he is likely to have a chance to break into their strongest lineup.

As for the Magpies, it is uncertain what their next steps will be. They might make another attempt to acquire the midfielder, but they first need to recover from two consecutive rejections within 48 hours.

Having missed out on European football last season and now facing setbacks with two transfer targets, they have a significant challenge ahead in Tyneside.
