Arsenal get new Gabriel injury update ahead of Tottenham showdown…

Arsenal receives an update on Gabriel’s injury ahead of the Tottenham match.

The Gunners face a significant injury concern before the north London derby.

The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) has confirmed that Gabriel sustained a knee injury during the match against Senegal, which is a significant setback for Arsenal.

Initially, Brazil manager Carlo Ancelotti indicated that Gabriel had an adductor injury, but it has now been clarified that the centre-back has suffered a “muscle injury in his right knee.”

Gabriel had to leave the field in the second half as Brazil secured a 2-0 victory over Senegal at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday.

His fitness poses a serious concern for Mikel Arteta as they prepare for the north London derby against Tottenham.

This season, Gabriel has been a crucial player for Arsenal, contributing significantly at both ends of the pitch.

He has been a solid presence in defense, with the team conceding only five goals in 11 Premier League matches, while also being a major aerial threat during attacking set-pieces.

Gabriel went down just before the hour mark against Senegal and received medical attention before being substituted.

Arsenal will take on Spurs at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday and will also face Chelsea in a critical Premier League match later this month.

In a statement released on Sunday, the CBF said: “Arsenal player Gabriel Magalhaes was re-evaluated this Sunday and underwent imaging tests that revealed a muscle injury in his right knee.

“As a result, the player will not be traveling with the team for the match against Tunisia in Lille.”

Arteta is also concerned about the fitness of Riccardo Calafiori, who withdrew from the Italy squad due to a hip issue.

Arsenal has already been challenged by injuries this season, with Viktor Gyokeres, Martin Odegaard, Noni Madueke, Gabriel Martinelli, and Kai Havertz all sidelined prior to the international break, in addition to long-term injury victim Gabriel Jesus.

Norway coach Stale Solbakken has suggested that Odegaard is unlikely to be fit in time to face Spurs.

“It is steady,” Solbakken commented on Odegaard’s recovery this week. “It is progressing steadily, but he is still some distance away.”
