Report: Liverpool now value ‘brilliant’ player at £85m after rumoured interest from Real Madrid…

Liverpool has reportedly placed a valuation of £85m on Ibrahima Konate following interest from Real Madrid.

The Spanish club is poised to acquire Trent Alexander-Arnold this summer, but they are also considering Konate, who has had an outstanding season with Liverpool, forming a strong defensive partnership with Virgil van Dijk.

This duo played a crucial role in securing Liverpool’s Premier League title. Due to Konate’s impressive performance, Real Madrid is keen on signing him as they aim to strengthen their defense.

Liverpool has responded by setting an asking price of €100m (£85m) for the center-back, a figure that Madrid is hesitant to meet as they explore more affordable options.

Another target for Madrid is Dean Huijsen, who has made a name for himself at AFC Bournemouth.

However, it seems unlikely that Konate will be joining Real Madrid this transfer window, especially with the club already preparing to invest significantly in Alexander-Arnold’s contract.

Keeping Konate at Liverpool would be a significant win for the club, but with his contract situation becoming pressing, Madrid’s interest serves as a reminder for Liverpool to secure a new deal for the 25-year-old.

Real Madrid’s recent position on Ibrahima Konate necessitates renewed contract discussions with Liverpool.

The last negotiations regarding Konate’s contract have created significant uncertainty about his future at Liverpool, as the former RB Leipzig player is set to see his current contract expire in a year.

However, with Real Madrid likely to withdraw their interest in Konate this summer, Liverpool must take proactive steps to initiate new discussions with the Paris-born defender to secure his long-term commitment to the club.

With Wayne Rooney praising Konate as ‘brilliant’, Liverpool recognizes the exceptional talent they possess in the French international, and they cannot afford to let him leave without compensation, especially after losing Alexander-Arnold to Madrid this summer.
