Alisson’s Injury Timeline Provides Significant Advantage for Arsenal and Chelsea

The disclosure of Alisson’s injury timeline serves as a significant boost for Arsenal and Chelsea.

Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker is set to be sidelined for upcoming matches against Arsenal and Chelsea, following the revelation of his injury timeline.

The Brazilian sustained a hamstring injury during Liverpool’s narrow 1-0 victory over Crystal Palace last Saturday, leading to his substitution in the second half.

After undergoing a medical scan, it has been determined that Alisson will likely be out of action for approximately six weeks.

This absence means he will miss the match against Chelsea at Anfield on October 20, as well as the subsequent fixture against Arsenal the following week.

Liverpool manager Arne Slot had previously voiced his concerns regarding Alisson’s condition after the match against Palace, indicating that the injury could result in a significant layoff.

“The latest update is uncertain, but typically, when a player exits the field in that manner, it suggests he won’t be available for the Brazil squad, and I doubt he will feature in our first match post-international break,” Slot commented last Saturday.

“We will have to wait for further assessments, but I anticipate it will take several weeks for him to return. I believe it is related to his hamstring.”

Vitezslav Jaros stepped in for Alisson after his injury at Palace, but now Caoimhin Kelleher is expected to take over, having missed the match due to illness.

Slot stated, “Alisson is undoubtedly our primary choice; he is the finest goalkeeper in the world. His injuries are always a setback, not just for him personally but for the entire team as well.

“However, the silver lining for the team is that we have a strong second option available, not just in the goalkeeper role but across nearly all positions.

“Caoimh [Caoimhin Kelleher] has already demonstrated his capabilities, making it clear that he is our No.2.

“In the past, when Alisson was sidelined, I opted to play Caoimh instead of Vit [Jaros], which further solidified his position as our second choice, and he performed admirably.

“It’s encouraging to see that even our third goalkeeper, who was unwell yesterday and today, can still contribute positively to our outcomes.”
