Leeds United is currently experiencing a significant goalkeeping dilemma as they attempt to retain Karl Darlow this summer amidst interest from Manchester United.

The Whites have proposed a new contract for him to remain at Elland Road. However, an agreement has yet to be reached, and Manchester United is actively pursuing his signature.

Darlow took over from Lucas Perri as the club’s primary goalkeeper midway through the season, bringing essential stability and experience to the defense.

Nevertheless, Manchester United’s interest in the 35-year-old goalkeeper has complicated the situation, putting Leeds at risk of losing him in the upcoming weeks.

The Athletic provides a crucial update on Karl Darlow.

Darlow has received an offer from Leeds to continue at Elland Road. However, the absence of an agreement has led him to consider the interest from Old Trafford.

As reported by The Athletic, Darlow is likely to become a free agent at the end of the month, given the current circumstances.

The well-regarded source suggests that the Welshman is now unlikely to extend his contract and remain at Leeds beyond this month.

Manchester United is keen on acquiring him and has been in discussions with his representatives regarding a potential free transfer this summer.

The Premier League giants are seeking a dependable and experienced backup goalkeeper to Senne Lammens as part of their transfer strategy this summer.

Darlow also meets the homegrown player requirement for the squad, which is another reason the Red Devils are eager to have him at Old Trafford for another season.

It appears that the Welshman is ready to become the first player since Alan Smith, over 20 years ago, to leave Leeds for Manchester United.

His exit would pose a challenge for Leeds.

Illan Meslier has departed the club, and Lucas Perri did not demonstrate last season that he could be a number one goalkeeper in the Premier League.

Leeds had hoped to retain Darlow. However, with Manchester United’s interest, the Welshman seems destined for Old Trafford this summer.

Initially, the Whites were deliberating against signing a goalkeeper this summer. However, they now find it necessary to recruit two to bolster their squad.

Leeds rejected a bid to sell Perri during the winter transfer window. Despite this, he is not considered trustworthy, and Farke is eager to enhance his goalkeeping staff this summer.
