Leeds United supporters have introduced a brand new chant following their impressive victory over Newcastle at Elland Road. ‘This One Is Going Global!’

Since Leeds United adopted a 3-5-2 formation, only five clubs in the Premier League have earned more points than Daniel Farke’s team.

Leeds has had quite a journey since their return to the Premier League, managing to secure their place last season and now appearing more settled at this level.

In the early months of the 2025-26 season, Farke faced challenges in balancing offense and defense, resulting in only 11 points from their first 12 matches.

During those initial 12 games, Leeds frequently employed a 4-3-3 formation, which often left them exposed defensively.

With Leeds positioned in the relegation zone and Farke facing mounting pressure, he opted to switch to a 3-5-2 formation during their match against Manchester City in November.

Although Leeds lost that match in the dying moments due to a goal from Phil Foden, Farke’s team displayed a competitive spirit that had been missing in many prior games.

Since then, the German manager has consistently utilized the 3-5-2 formation, leading to a significant improvement in Leeds’ league performance.

They embarked on a seven-match unbeaten streak in the Premier League right after, marking their longest undefeated run in the top flight since 2001. They have since surpassed that with an even longer unbeaten stretch.

Leeds successfully secured their Premier League status last season and have made a strong start to the current campaign.

Farke’s team remains unbeaten in their first four matches of the 2026-27 season, reaching as high as third place in the early standings. They have also achieved their most remarkable result of the season thus far, defeating Newcastle United 4-1.

In the Championship last season, Farke typically adhered to a 4-2-3-1 formation but acknowledged the need for greater flexibility in the Premier League.

“Last season, when we were winning the majority of our matches, we didn’t significantly alter our base formation,” Farke shared with Sky Sports last season.

“The leading teams in Europe and the Premier League consistently utilize the same formation.

“However, to close the gap in individual talent, flexibility is essential. This was evident at the start of the season. Consequently, we have extensively trained in a three-man formation. I was confident we were ready to adapt to it in every match.”

Leeds have ascended the league standings and secured their safety with several matches remaining, while their unexpected win against Brighton keeps them in the race for a top-half finish.

Leeds have firmly established themselves in the Premier League and show no indications of struggling in their second season back in the top division.

Their performance since adopting the 3-5-2 formation has been particularly remarkable, with only Manchester City, Arsenal, Manchester United, Liverpool, and Aston Villa – the five clubs that qualified for the Champions League – earning more points during this timeframe.
