Leeds United have reignited discussions for a Champions League midfielder who is eager to join Elland Road.

Leeds United are intensifying their efforts in the transfer market as they seek to acquire multiple new players before the squad reconvenes for pre-season next month.

The club is still in negotiations with Harry Wilson and is reported to have proposed a substantial salary increase to entice the Fulham winger to Elland Road on a free transfer.

Additionally, Leeds are ambitiously targeting Borussia Dortmund playmaker Julian Brandt, who is seen as a player capable of bringing significant quality and experience to Daniel Farke’s team.

In parallel, discussions are advancing regarding a deal for Southampton midfielder Shea Charles, but Leeds are not halting their pursuits. The club has also rekindled their interest in long-time target Hidemasa Morita as they continue to seek ways to enhance their midfield options.

Leeds United renew talks with Hidemasa Morita.

Hidemasa Morita is set to depart Sporting Lisbon on a free transfer once his contract concludes at the end of this month.

Leeds have been strongly linked with the 30-year-old midfielder and previously engaged in discussions with his representatives about a potential deal this summer.

However, Leeds decided to pause the deal while they evaluated their options regarding which targets to prioritize this summer.

They aim to finalize a deal for Charles from Southampton soon, but they still have an interest in the midfielder with Champions League experience.

As reported by the Daily Mail, Leeds have resumed talks to sign the Sporting Lisbon midfielder on a free transfer this summer.

Morita is eager to play in the Premier League, and prior to Leeds putting the deal on hold, he was enthusiastic about moving to Elland Road during the current transfer window.

He is still believed to be receptive to a transfer to Elland Road, and Leeds are now in discussions to revive a deal to sign him on a free transfer this summer.

Do Leeds need him?

The midfield is a position within the Leeds squad where they possess ample options, and any new acquisitions will likely result in player exits as well.

Leeds is on the verge of acquiring Shea Charles from Southampton, and his addition will almost certainly trigger the sale of Iliia Gruev during this transfer window.

Moreover, if they proceed with signing Hidemasa Morita, Leeds will have to offload another midfielder to create room in their squad for the 30-year-old player.

It remains uncertain whether Daniel Farke would prefer such a significant upheaval in his squad within a single summer, especially since Leeds also requires enhancements in other positions.
