The forward known as “Electric” is now contemplating bypassing Real Madrid to join Liverpool instead.

Liverpool has received a significant boost in their quest for a £49m forward, as it has recently come to light that he may be swayed by a transfer to Anfield this summer, despite interest from Real Madrid.

The rivalry between the Reds and Real Madrid persists.

During the Jürgen Klopp era, the Reds faced defeat in two Champions League finals against Real Madrid, with Thibaut Courtois making crucial saves to secure a 1-0 win for the Spanish team in 2022.

Since that time, the relationship between the two clubs has deteriorated, particularly after Trent Alexander-Arnold chose to leave his childhood club for the team that denied him two additional Champions League medals.

The manner in which Trent executed his transfer certainly did not help his standing, as the academy product departed on a free transfer, and Madrid has been attempting to persuade Arne Slot’s team to allow him to exit his contract prematurely.

Fans have understandably expressed significant frustration over Trent’s exit, but Liverpool may now have the opportunity to gain an advantage over their Spanish rivals by securing the signing of a £49m forward.

A report from Spain indicates that Liverpool has emerged as Real Madrid’s primary competitor in the pursuit of Athletic Bilbao’s Nico Williams, and there is a sense that he is inclined to disregard the interest from Spain in favor of a move to Anfield.

In fact, Williams is open to offers from English clubs, and the prospect of joining the Reds’ dynamic attacking lineup could be appealing to the forward, which would be positive news for the Premier League champions.

Bilbao is eager to retain the winger, but they may be unable to stop his departure if the £49m release clause is fully paid, making the likelihood of him transferring to Anfield increasingly probable.

“Electric” Williams might be the perfect successor to Luis Diaz.

As Luis Diaz approaches the final year of his contract without having signed an extension, the interest from Barcelona could create challenges for the Reds.

However, indications suggest that Williams could serve as an excellent long-term alternative.

At just 22 years old, the Bilbao star has been a vital contributor to the La Liga team for a considerable period, having made 166 appearances for his childhood club and accumulating 11 goals and seven assists across all competitions this season.

Similar to Diaz, the Spain international enjoys attacking opposing defenses, ranking in the top 2% for successful take-ons per 90 minutes over the past year, which explains why La Liga’s official media outlet referred to him as “electric”.

Slot will be hoping that Diaz is encouraged to prolong his tenure at Anfield, especially after netting 13 Premier League goals this season.

Nevertheless, Williams could serve as a reliable long-term option while also being capable of competing for the starting position currently held by the 28-year-old immediately.
