Not Gyokeres: An Arsenal insider asserts that the “unstoppable” striker earning £200,000 a week is the primary target.

Arsenal Insider: The actual No.1 target is a £200,000-a-week striker, not Gyokeres.

According to a club insider, Arsenal has identified RB Leipzig’s young talent, Benjamin Sesko, as their top striker target this summer.

The Gunners are said to be focusing on acquiring the Slovenian international rather than Sporting Lisbon’s Viktor Gyokeres, who is still considered a backup option.

Following a season marred by injuries to both Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz, Mikel Arteta’s team is anticipated to secure a new number nine.

Sesko reportedly has a release clause of approximately €70m (£59m), positioning him among Arsenal’s five most expensive signings in history.

Arsenal is prioritizing Sesko over Gyokeres, making the Slovenian starlet their ‘first-choice’.

Last summer, Sesko was strongly linked to a move to the Emirates before he signed a new long-term contract with Leipzig, which extends until June 2029.

The ‘unstoppable’ Slovenia international, whose salary demands are £200,000 per week, is thought to have a gentleman’s agreement with the Bundesliga side that permits him to leave this summer if a compelling offer is made.

Since joining Leipzig from RB Salzburg in 2023, Sesko has continued to excel in Germany, netting 21 goals and assisting six times in 45 matches this season.

Arsenal is currently in advanced negotiations to sign Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi as their first acquisition of the summer, with an expected expenditure of £51m for the Spanish international.

Zubimendi is anticipated to join the Emirates as a long-term successor to Jorginho, who is set to leave for Flamengo when his contract expires next month.

On Sunday, Arsenal will play their final league match of the season away against Southampton.
