Newcastle is ‘furious’ with Sandro Tonali following his actions that led to his transfer to Tottenham.

The owners of Newcastle had a cheeky two-word response after the sale of Sandro Tonali to Tottenham.

Newcastle has issued a brief and upbeat message to fans as they prepare for a summer spending spree after selling Sandro Tonali to Tottenham.

Spurs are poised to set a new record for their transfer fee for the second time within 48 hours after finalizing an agreement to acquire Tonali.

An initial payment of £92.5 million, along with an additional £7.5 million in performance-related add-ons, has been settled with Newcastle to facilitate Roberto De Zerbi’s midfield overhaul, following their agreement to sign Mateus Fernandes from West Ham on Tuesday.

Newcastle’s owners, PIF, have faced criticism from fans regarding the departures of several key players, including Alexander Isak, who made a high-profile exit last summer, and Anthony Gordon, who transferred to Barcelona last month.

The leadership of the Magpies is committed to swiftly strengthening Eddie Howe’s squad now that they are no longer constrained by PSR, and journalist Mark Douglas has provided some encouraging updates on their future plans.

Newcastle is not in a state of panic, with four signings on the horizon.

Douglas provided an update for iNews on Thursday, indicating that the club has already secured a deal for Hoffenheim and Ivory Coast winger Bazoumana Touré.

The 20-year-old, who netted five goals and contributed nine assists in the Bundesliga last season, will be joining for approximately £43 million, but he is not the only target on their list.

In fact, Douglas confirms that Newcastle aims to acquire Tottenham midfielder Archie Gray, Monaco’s young talent Lamine Camara, and Swiss prodigy Johan Manzambi, relaying a message he received from high-ranking sources within the club.

“No panic.”

Gray should be Newcastle’s top priority.

At just 20 years old, Gray represents the type of midfielder that clubs invest millions to find, and Newcastle would be acquiring him at an ideal moment.

Gray participated in 24 Premier League matches last season, contributing two goals and two assists while demonstrating versatility by playing nearly every position on the field, even stepping in as a centre-back during a period of injuries.

What truly sets him apart is his impressive skill set – including pressing, ball carrying, and game awareness – which is a rarity among 20-year-olds in European football.

Thomas Frank praised him for displaying “a lot of resilience” and noted that he is “made of the right character material,” highlighting both his mentality and skill.

He was part of the England U21 team that triumphed at the Euros in 2025, starting three matches as the Young Lions defeated Germany in the final, and he has Champions League experience on his record, despite being a teenager for most of last season.

For Newcastle, who are in search of a next-generation midfielder to partner with Bruno Guimaraes for the long term, Gray embodies the profile that Eddie Howe has consistently sought – technically proficient, tactically aware, and with significant potential for growth ahead.
