“MY PLAYERS WERE MENTALLY BROKEN!” David Moyes criticizes Liverpool fans

Liverpool supporters crossed a line; they shouldn’t sing that chant as it mentally affected the player on the field.

David Moyes perplexed by Merseyside derby ruling as Liverpool secures bragging rights.

David Moyes was left enraged after a decision not to grant Everton a first-half penalty against Liverpool, questioning the referee’s judgment regarding Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall.

Moyes believes Everton should have received a penalty in the first half when Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall seemed to be brought down by Liverpool’s right-back Curtis Jones.

The Blues midfielder had charged through the Liverpool defense and appeared ready to seize a ball over the top, presenting Dewsbury-Hall with a prime chance to put his team ahead.

Instead, he fell to the ground, and referee Chris Kavanagh dismissed the appeals from the Royal Blue side, leaving Moyes furious on the sidelines. He was left devastated at the final whistle as Virgil van Dijk scored a dramatic winner deep into injury time.

When asked if he believed Everton should have been awarded a penalty, the manager, who had previously expressed his belief that the Reds often receive more favorable calls, stated: “I do, yeah. Why would he go down if he’s not?”

“You might argue it could be considered soft contact or something similar, but if he touches him at all, why wouldn’t he take the chance to shoot? He’s in a position to score, so why wouldn’t he seize that opportunity?”

The Blues manager remarked: “We didn’t deserve the result we got; football can be harsh at times, and we need to recover and move forward when faced with adversity.”

Everton had indeed done just that when Beto equalized in the second half, canceling out Mohamed Salah’s opener—a goal that came against the run of play after the hosts had started impressively but failed to capitalize on their chances.

Moyes expressed his concerns regarding Jarrad Branthwaite’s fitness after the centre-back was taken off on a stretcher late in the match, stating: “I believed we were the superior team for the first 25-30 minutes, though I’m not sure how long it lasted, but I felt Liverpool performed better just before half-time.”

“They began the second half slightly stronger, but once we equalized, I felt we were the dominant side.”

“If anyone was going to score, it was definitely going to be us.”

“I don’t think the injuries we sustained helped us in certain aspects, particularly in terms of making substitutions, but I have no complaints; the players performed admirably today, competing well against a very strong team.”

“We demonstrated that we are not too far off.”
