Kevin De Bruyne clarifies his true motivation for considering a move to Liverpool, which differs from popular belief.

The Manchester City midfielder has expressed his admiration for Liverpool and Anfield amidst speculation about his potential transfer as he prepares to leave City at the season’s end.

De Bruyne, 33, is on the verge of becoming a free agent this summer, concluding a remarkable tenure at City where he has played a pivotal role in securing six league titles, a Champions League victory, and two FA Cup wins.

He reportedly feels capable of maintaining his high performance level. Recent reports have linked him to a transfer to Liverpool, although the club has not yet contacted his representatives.

Nonetheless, De Bruyne’s respect for Liverpool is well-documented, including a nostalgic video from his childhood where he expressed a desire to play for the club and named Michael Owen as his idol.

While he hasn’t explicitly stated a wish to join Liverpool in recent years, he has consistently acknowledged the club’s significance.

Although De Bruyne has not explicitly expressed a desire to join Liverpool in recent years, he has consistently shown admiration for the club.

In November 2019, prior to a match between Liverpool and City at Anfield, he commended the atmosphere generated by Liverpool’s supporters. ‘I really like Anfield,’ De Bruyne remarked.

‘I enjoy the intensity and noise from the fans; that’s what football is all about. I appreciate the passion of the game.

While many new elements have been introduced in football, I still cherish the traditional aspects where fans passionately support their team.

When Liverpool creates that atmosphere, it gives them an advantage, while the opposing team may feel anxious.

As a team, maintaining composure is crucial; it’s one of the most challenging yet vital aspects. If you become nervous, the opposition can sense it. It’s a matter of survival on the pitch.’
