Pedro Proenca, president of the Portuguese Football Federation, later confirmed that Jota’s brother, Andre, aged 26, also perished in the accident.

This tragic news follows closely after the Portugal international’s marriage to Rute Cardoso, with whom he shares three children. They were married on June 22.

Emergency services in the Castilla and Leon region verified the crash with a statement that read: “The 1-1-2 Castilla y León operations room received multiple calls reporting a vehicle accident at Km.
