Antonio Rudiger has expressed his desire for Real Madrid to acquire a standout defender from Arsenal.

He has clearly indicated his preference for a specific player to join him in the Real Madrid backline, naming Arsenal’s William Saliba as his ideal partner.

Although Real Madrid remains unbeaten in the league this season, their performance in the first nine matches has left some room for improvement.

Currently positioned second in La Liga, they have dropped points on three occasions.

Nonetheless, Real Madrid’s defensive record is commendable, having conceded only six goals thus far, a figure surpassed only by Atletico Madrid, who have allowed five.

Antonio Rudiger has played a significant role in maintaining this strong defensive performance. The German international has continued to demonstrate his reliability at the back, mirroring his form from the previous season.

Looking ahead to next season, Rudiger has made his preferences clear. When asked about a potential defensive partner, he mentioned William Saliba from Arsenal.

Rudiger stated, “I would choose William Saliba. I’m pleased with my current centre-back partner [Eder] Militao, who is recovering well from a serious injury, but with so many matches ahead, rotation is essential. Having Saliba would be fantastic.”

The prospect of signing William Saliba is certainly appealing to Real Madrid fans, as he is widely regarded as one of the top defenders in the Premier League, and arguably in the world.

The Frenchman has fundamentally transformed Arsenal’s defense, reestablishing them as a formidable presence in the league.

Arsenal has gained a reputation for having the strongest defense in England, a status significantly bolstered by William Saliba’s contributions over recent seasons.

Real Madrid has faced numerous injury challenges, particularly with David Alaba sidelined for an extended period and Dani Carvajal also out of action.

It would not be surprising to see the club actively pursuing new signings in the upcoming transfer windows.

As Rudiger mentioned, Eder Militao is still in the process of recovering from a significant injury, which means his match fitness remains uncertain.

William Saliba was absent for a considerable portion of the 2022/23 season due to injury, and his lack of presence was keenly felt, potentially contributing to their failure in the title race. Since then, the Frenchman has solidified his position as a key player in Arsenal’s starting eleven.
