‘Leeds could go…’ – Jamie Carragher offers a harsh relegation assessment on Monday Night

Leeds United are nearly secure after achieving 43 points with their victory over Burnley on Friday night, and they can anticipate another season in the Premier League.

Daniel Farke has downplayed any discussions of celebrations until the club’s safety is officially verified. Nevertheless, Leeds could confirm their Premier League status even before facing Tottenham next Monday night.

The match against Spurs next week is expected to be significant, as another victory for the home side might be sufficient to ensure their safety. However, if Leeds manage to secure a result in north London, Tottenham could find themselves in a precarious position again.

West Ham appears to be the team now likely to face relegation, and they have a challenging match ahead against Arsenal at home next weekend.

Jamie Carragher acknowledges that West Ham is relying on Leeds

The Hammers are in a vulnerable situation after suffering a 3-0 defeat to Brentford over the weekend. Jamie Carragher has assessed their circumstances, and the outlook is bleak.

He does not foresee West Ham defeating Arsenal at home next weekend. However, the former defender admitted that they might be able to earn a point.

Still, Carragher emphasized that West Ham’s hopes hinge on Leeds obtaining a result against Tottenham on Monday night to keep Spurs in the relegation battle.

He believes that Tottenham could almost secure their survival if they triumph over Leeds. But West Ham’s chances depend on extending the fight until the final day of the season, when they will welcome Farke’s team to the London Stadium.

Carragher stated on Sky Sports: “Are they going to beat Arsenal? I find that hard to believe.

“They almost need to rely on Leeds going [to Tottenham] and earning a point.

“Could they secure a point at home against Arsenal? Yes.

“If they keep pace with Tottenham’s results, I then look to here [Tottenham against Chelsea and West Ham against Newcastle].

“Both are challenging matches, and I know Chelsea performed poorly today, but can you imagine the motivation within that club to succeed?

“It will be a challenging match for Tottenham as they face Chelsea away from home.

“However, the current scenario here [Tottenham versus Leeds, and West Ham against Arsenal] presents Tottenham with a significant chance to nearly secure their position.

“West Ham must remain optimistic that they can extend the fight until the final day.”

West Ham and Tottenham are relying on Leeds for assistance.

If West Ham suffers a defeat against Arsenal on Sunday, Leeds will already be mathematically safe before they head to Tottenham next Monday night.

This situation places Leeds in a unique position, with the ability to affect the relegation battle as the season concludes.

Regardless of the outcomes this weekend, West Ham will be counting on Leeds to assist them against Spurs next week as they strive to evade relegation.

Simultaneously, Spurs will be keeping a close eye on the final day at the London Stadium, where West Ham faces Leeds in what could be a pivotal encounter.
