Daniel Farke’s future at Leeds is under scrutiny as a ‘major surprise’ is discussed – report

Daniel Farke’s position at Leeds United appears secure if the Whites manage to remain in the Premier League, or does it?

Strange occurrences are not uncommon in football, and the 49ers will conduct their usual end-of-season review.

Farke faced challenges even after leading Leeds to promotion last season, and he had to fight for his position in LS11 again last November.

The German head coach took the initiative to switch to a five-at-the-back formation, which may have been the change that ultimately secured his role.

With Leeds seemingly on track to avoid relegation, it would be quite surprising if Farke were dismissed, especially with fans now fully supporting the former Norwich City manager.

It would indeed be shocking to see Daniel Farke let go.

There were significant calls for Farke’s dismissal following a loss to Aston Villa at the end of November, but interestingly, a 3-2 defeat to Manchester City in the subsequent match instilled hope among supporters.

This optimism translated to the players, as the Whites embarked on a seven-game unbeaten streak, achieving victories over Liverpool twice, Chelsea, and Manchester United during that stretch, and things have been looking up ever since.

When contemplating the likelihood of Farke remaining in charge of Leeds next season, The Athletic noted, “It would be a major surprise if not.”

Leeds’ recent performance was also cited in defense of Farke, with the team having lost only five out of their last 26 matches, including a historic win against Manchester United at Old Trafford for the first time in 45 years and reaching an FA Cup semi-final.

It has also been suggested that with the Whites sitting on 40 points and nearing Premier League safety, the season could hardly have unfolded any better.

Many Leeds supporters would likely concur with this.

How can the 49ers demonstrate their support for Farke this summer?

It is fair to say that Farke faced challenges during the winter transfer window, which only emphasizes the commendable job he has accomplished.

The 49ers made a bid exceeding £30 million for Jorgen Strand Larsen, and while the deal ultimately fell through, it was evident that the funds were available for investment.

In contrast, Farke received Facundo Buonanotte on loan, and it would be best to refrain from further comment on that transfer.

Overall, the 49ers have a responsibility to their head coach to offer him a new contract this summer and to support him by pushing their boundaries in the summer transfer window to enhance critical positions.
