Anton Stach provided a 23-word injury update for Leeds United ahead of the match against Man Utd, stating he hopes to be ‘back soon’.

The midfielder sustained a concerning ankle injury during Leeds United’s FA Cup victory over West Ham.

Stach is optimistic about returning soon from the ankle injury he incurred during the penalty shootout win in the FA Cup quarter-finals against West Ham on Sunday.

The injury occurred late in the first half after a severe challenge from West Ham’s Max Kilman. Stach was making a run towards goal and had his shot saved by Alphonse Areola before being tackled, resulting in him rolling his ankle.

Referee Craig Pawson chose not to award a penalty, as a VAR review concluded that the challenge was a ‘natural coming together’. Stach received treatment on the field and appeared to be in significant pain, briefly returning to the game before being substituted for Brenden Aaronson.

On Sunday, Stach shared a concerning image of his swollen right ankle on Instagram, captioning it with ‘stop acting’, implying he was accused of exaggerating the impact of the challenge. He also provided another update on Monday evening.

In an Instagram post featuring a uniquely edited photo, Stach wrote: ‘Quarterfinals in the Cart, next stop: Wembley. I hope to be back soon and ready to roll. Thank you for the amazing support’.

At the time of Stach’s injury, Leeds was leading 1-0 and was in control of the game, especially in midfield, with both Stach and Ao Tanaka performing notably well. The Japan international netted the opener for his team after showcasing impressive footwork, while West Ham struggled to assert themselves in midfield.

Control was somewhat lost after Aaronson came on, and despite going two goals ahead with a penalty from Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Leeds conceded twice during added time. Ultimately, the Whites triumphed 4-2 in the penalty shootout, with Lucas Perri emerging as the hero by denying Jarrod Bowen and Pablo Felipe.

Leeds United are awaiting an update on Anton Stach’s injury.

The club is now anxious about the extent of Stach’s injury, as the German player is scheduled for further evaluation this week. Following the match on Sunday, manager Daniel Farke expressed his belief that his fellow countryman may have sustained a ligament injury, which raises serious concerns about his availability for the match against Manchester United on Monday.

“Anton should have been awarded a penalty; he was struck on his ankle, likely resulting in a ligament injury,” the Whites manager stated. “We need to determine the severity of the injury. I hope it’s not too serious; he was instrumental in the game, and losing him is a significant setback. He is a crucial player for us, and I hope the situation is not too dire.”

Farke is also concerned about the fitness of Joe Rodon, who, like Stach, had to leave the field due to an ankle injury. The Welsh defender sustained the injury shortly after half-time, having appeared to fall awkwardly during a set-piece. He was substituted by Sebastiaan Bornauw.

Noah Okafor also exited the game in the second half, as the Swiss winger went down and rubbed the back of his legs. Having just returned from a prolonged hamstring injury, Farke indicated that there was no immediate cause for alarm.

“I believe Noah is fine; it seems to be just cramps, which is understandable after being sidelined for a while,” Farke commented. “Joe Rodon rolled his ankle, and we need to evaluate him. Thankfully, there is some time before our next match.
