Leeds United compelled to pay £14m as the FA confirms an important detail.

Leeds United invested over £100m last summer to reshape their team after promotion and currently find themselves in 15th place, four points above the relegation zone.

Fans felt that Leeds did not do enough to enhance the squad last year. Nevertheless, Leeds still have a shot at Premier League survival with seven league matches remaining.

It has now come to light that Leeds had to spend more than the £100m allocated for transfers as part of their operations in the transfer market.

Leeds United incurred significant agent fees over the past year.

The Whites brought in 10 new players to strengthen their squad last summer, which came at a substantial cost, including the free agent acquisitions of Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Lukas Nmecha.

An FA report has disclosed that Leeds spent nearly £14m on agent fees as part of their transfer market dealings over the last year.

This amount encompasses the 10 new signings from last summer and the loan signing of Facundo Buonanotte from Brighton in January.

Consequently, Leeds allocated more than 10 percent of their transfer expenditure to agent fees to finalize deals in the last two transfer windows.

This figure represents approximately three percent of the total £460,300,308 spent on agents by all Premier League clubs during that period, with Leeds United positioned as the 14th highest spender.

Not surprisingly, Chelsea tops the list by a significant margin, having disbursed an astonishing £65,102,247.

Should they reconsider their transfer strategy?

Leeds invested £100m in 10 new players last summer to revamp their squad, yet they still faced some gaps in their lineup.

They were unable to invest further, as Leeds opted not to increase their transfer budget by selling one or two key players in the last two windows.

If Leeds manages to stay in the Premier League this season, they may need to adjust their transfer strategy to enhance their prospects of strengthening the squad.

To generate more funds for incoming transfers in the summer, they will have to improve their ability to sell players and make tough decisions regarding certain personnel.

Last summer, Leeds opted not to invest heavily in any single player. However, to bring in genuine quality, they will need to make significant expenditures on specific positions.
