Liverpool Makes Important Decision Regarding Arne Slot Ahead of Carabao Cup Match with Crystal Palace.

Arne Slot to Forego Media Responsibilities Prior to Crystal Palace Match.

Liverpool manager Arne Slot will not conduct a press conference on Tuesday in anticipation of the Reds’ Carabao Cup match against Crystal Palace.

Unlike fixtures in the Premier League, FA Cup, or Champions League — where managers are obligated to address the media — Carabao Cup games do not have this requirement.

Consequently, Liverpool has opted not to schedule a pre-match media briefing, similar to their approach before the last round against Southampton.

During that time, Slot and his team were also part of Liverpool’s delegation at the Ballon d’Or ceremony in Paris.

This strategy is not uncommon — Manchester United, Manchester City, and Everton have previously opted out of pre-Carabao Cup press conferences.

Under Jürgen Klopp, assistant Pepijn Lijnders frequently took on these responsibilities.

Interestingly, Slot held media sessions before every Carabao Cup match last season, leading Liverpool to victories over West Ham, Brighton, Southampton, and Tottenham before narrowly losing 2–1 to Newcastle in the Wembley final — just missing out on his first trophy with Liverpool. He later redeemed himself by securing the Premier League title.

Liverpool’s forthcoming match against FA Cup champions Crystal Palace arrives at a critical juncture. The Reds have suffered five losses in their last six games, while Palace has been defeated in three of their last four — indicating that both teams are in dire need of a confidence-boosting victory.

Slot’s choice to avoid the media means there will be no statements from him regarding the team’s recent struggles or the injury status of Curtis Jones, Ryan Gravenberch, and Alexander Isak, all of whom either missed or were forced off during the loss at Brentford.

Alisson, Jeremie Frimpong, and Giovanni Leoni also continue to be unavailable.

Instead, a Liverpool player is anticipated to address reporters before the match.

This will be the third encounter between the two clubs this season — Palace emerged victorious on penalties in the Community Shield and also initiated Liverpool’s recent decline in the Premier League with a 2–1 victory at Selhurst Park.
