Sources indicate that Star has ‘opened the door’ for a potential move to Newcastle following the collapse of his deal with Man United.

Ederson may be on his way to Newcastle this summer after his transfer to Man United fell through despite extensive negotiations, according to sources from Football Insider.

Eddie Howe is aiming to strengthen his midfield this summer after Sandro Tonali’s £100 million transfer to Tottenham.

Bruno Guimaraes might also depart as Arsenal considers a bid, while Joe Willock’s future remains uncertain.

The Magpies have already secured Sean Steur from Ajax and have long been interested in Atalanta’s Ederson.

As I mentioned in the latest episode of Football Insider’s Transfer Insider podcast, they could pursue the Brazilian international now that his move to Man United is off the table.

The Red Devils were close to finalizing a £37.8 million agreement with Atalanta for Ederson but shifted their focus to other players last week, signing Youri Tielemans and Andrey Santos instead.

Newcastle has set its sights on Ederson following the failed deal with Man United.

Man United had reached a £37.8 million agreement with Atalanta for Ederson, but they withdrew from the deal due to a knee issue discovered during his medical examination.

Newcastle is eager to bring in a defensive midfielder, and Howe is known to hold Ederson in high regard.

On the Transfer Insider podcast, I noted: “He’s a player Newcastle has previously considered and admired, so the collapse of his move to Manchester United has potentially opened the door for them to pursue him.

Atalanta is relatively calm about the situation; they are somewhat surprised that Manchester United did not proceed with the deal, but they are open to reintegrating Ederson into their squad.”

Archie Gray has emerged as a target for Newcastle amid uncertainty surrounding Spurs.

Sources have exclusively informed Football Insider that Gray could be a potential replacement for Guimaraes at Newcastle this summer.

The Tottenham midfielder has seen Tonali and Mateus Fernandes join the team this summer, which has pushed him further down the midfield hierarchy ahead of the upcoming season.

He has been associated with multiple clubs, and recent reports indicate that the Magpies are considering making an offer for his services.

It is still uncertain whether he is willing to depart from Spurs, but he might be enticed to move to the north east if Newcastle provides assured playing time.
