Newcastle linked to surprise move for Man City forward…

Newcastle is reportedly in discussions regarding a surprising transfer for a forward from Manchester City.

The club has engaged in talks about acquiring a star from their Premier League rivals, as Eddie Howe aims to bolster his attacking options with experienced players amid significant squad transformations this summer.

As reported by TEAMtalk, Newcastle is in discussions regarding a possible acquisition of Egypt international Omar Marmoush, who may be on the market after losing his place in the lineup at Manchester City.

“Omar Marmoush is poised for important discussions with Manchester City concerning his future, as interest from clubs in England and Germany intensifies. TEAMtalk has learned that both Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle are keen on him,” the report states. “We can confirm that both Tottenham and Newcastle have made inquiries about the adaptable forward, while several Bundesliga teams are also showing significant interest in bringing Marmoush back to Germany.”

Newcastle’s interest arises during a period of restructuring following the exits of Anthony Gordon to Barcelona and Sandro Tonali to Tottenham Hotspur. Additionally, club captain Bruno Guimaraes has been frequently linked with Arsenal, and Newcastle is actively seeking midfield reinforcements after acquiring Sean Steur from Ajax and missing out on Johan Manzambi.

According to TEAMtalk, Marmoush has become a target for the Magpies as they aim to enhance their attacking options with a seasoned forward.

The 27-year-old transferred to Manchester City from Eintracht Frankfurt for a staggering €75 million but has faced challenges in securing a regular starting position, leading to a decrease in his market value to €50 million, as reported by Transfermarkt.

Despite limited playing time, Marmoush has managed to score 16 goals and provide six assists in 61 appearances for City since joining midway through the 2025 season.

Prior to his move to England, Marmoush excelled at Eintracht Frankfurt, where he netted 37 goals and contributed 20 assists in 67 matches.

The report further indicates that Newcastle is actively seeking attacking reinforcements like Marmoush, primarily due to the inconsistent performances from Nick Woltemade and Yoane Wissa following Alexander Isak’s record-breaking departure last year.
