According to Sky Sports Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg, Arsenal is now considering Atalanta forward Ademola Lookman as a potential signing for the upcoming summer transfer window.

The Gunners aim to enhance their attacking lineup following a disappointing domestic season, during which they failed to secure the Premier League title and faced significant injuries to key players like Bukayo Saka, Kai Havertz, and Gabriel Jesus.

Andrea Berta and Mikel Arteta are prioritizing the acquisition of a natural number nine, with Sporting’s Viktor Gyokeres being a primary target, but Lookman has also emerged as a viable option.

The Nigerian forward has gained recognition as one of Europe’s top strikers, notably scoring a hat-trick in the Europa League final, earning him the label of ‘unstoppable.’

Lookman is expected to leave Atalanta for a new challenge this summer, with a return to the Premier League being a strong possibility as he seeks to advance his career.

Having primarily played on the left wing in Serie A, he could provide much-needed reinforcement in that area for Arsenal, especially considering the underwhelming performances of Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard this season.

Additionally, Arsenal has shown interest in Athletic Bilbao’s Nico Williams, who is viewed as Arteta’s ideal signing, although his wage expectations and loyalty to his club may complicate the situation.

In contrast, a transfer for Lookman appears more feasible, and at 27 years old, he could be the impactful player the Gunners require to challenge for the title next season.
