Liverpool conducts a ‘private meeting’ regarding a sensational signing of a striker.

Reports indicate that Liverpool has held a ‘private meeting’ to discuss the acquisition of a world-class striker target, even though there are concerns he may ultimately join a rival European club this summer.

The Anfield team is acting swiftly in their search for new players to enhance their Premier League title-winning squad, with a key focus on securing an elite-level No.9 to take over from Darwin Nunez, as emphasized by technical director Richard Hughes and his team.

Jeremie Frimpong has already been signed to fill the role of Trent Alexander-Arnold, while a record transfer for Bayer Leverkusen’s Florian Wirtz is nearing completion, alongside efforts to acquire left-back Milos Kerkez.

In terms of a new striker, recent reports suggest that Liverpool has engaged in discussions regarding a potential move for prolific Napoli striker Victor Osimhen.

The Nigerian forward has already rejected an offer from Saudi Pro League team Al-Hilal and remains linked with several of Europe’s top clubs.

According to GiveMeSport, the Reds have conducted internal discussions about a player expected to cost around £63 million (€74 million, $86 million).

It is mentioned that his ‘wage demands’ could pose a ‘significant obstacle’, but Osimhen ‘might consider lowering his salary expectations if he wishes to challenge himself at the highest level’.

Nonetheless, there is an acknowledgment that Osimhen is more likely to return to Galatasaray on a permanent basis, following his impressive tally of 37 goals in all competitions for the Turkish club during his loan last season.

Liverpool transfers: Slot outlines a four-striker wishlist.

Osimhen is not the sole striker being considered by Liverpool, as journalist Ben Jacobs has revealed four additional names that are in contention to replace Nunez.

“Liverpool is already evaluating options to internally replace Nunez,” Jacobs stated for talkSPORT, adding: “Alexander Isak, Hugo Ekitike, Benjamin Sesko, and Joao Pedro are among the candidates being considered.”

Among the four attackers discussed, Isak is undoubtedly the most challenging to acquire this summer, given Newcastle’s firm position that their star player is not for sale.

The Sweden international has three years remaining on his contract at St James’ Park, and with Eddie Howe’s squad returning to the Champions League next season, this aligns with one of Isak’s conditions should he consider a departure from Tyneside.

Regarding the other three players mentioned, there is a significant chance that all three will be at different clubs by the beginning of the 2025/26 season.

In fact, Liverpool is strongly rumored to be attempting to overtake Chelsea in their pursuit of Eintracht Frankfurt’s Ekitike, while Sesko is still being linked with a move to Premier League rivals Arsenal.

As for Pedro, the Brighton striker has also been associated with clubs like Newcastle and Chelsea, even though Chelsea has already secured Liam Delap.
