HERE WE GO: Sunderland Finalizes Signing of Atletico Madrid Defender.

The Black Cats have made another strong addition to their roster for the 2025-26 Premier League season.

Sunderland is actively enhancing their squad for the forthcoming Premier League campaign, having now secured a defender from Atletico Madrid.

No serious endeavor can afford to overlook its defensive line. This is the perspective Sunderland’s management has adopted, and they are taking decisive action.

Recently, the Black Cats have been associated with players such as Celtic’s Cameron Carter-Vickers (27), Liverpool’s Joe Gomez (28), and Atletico Madrid’s Reinildo (31).

There is significant news regarding the latter.

Sunderland completes the signing of Atletico Madrid’s Reinildo.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Sunderland has finalized the acquisition of Reinildo, bolstering their defense for the 2025-26 Premier League season.

The journalist notes that the Mozambican full-back is set to join the Stadium of Light on a two-year contract, although the specifics of his salary in England have not been disclosed.

Reinildo to Sunderland, here we go! A two-year deal has been finalized for the left-back transferring from Atletico Madrid.

Following their investment in young talent Diarra, SAFC aims to strike the right balance with experienced players. This is an ambitious project with one more key addition.

Romano emphasizes that Sunderland is striving to find the right mix of experience. It is important to note that just hours ago, the Lads secured the signing of 21-year-old midfielder Habib Diarra from Ligue 1 club RC Strasbourg.

This indicates that the English club’s management is not solely focused on acquiring young talent but is also seeking seasoned players who can mentor the younger members of the team.

Recent reports suggest that the left-back was also pursued by other Premier League teams, including Crystal Palace and fellow newly-promoted club Leeds United.

Nevertheless, similar to the situation with Diarra, who attracted interest from Leeds and West Ham, Sunderland’s initiative ultimately persuaded the player.

In the 2024-25 season, Reinildo participated in 30 matches for Atletico Madrid in various competitions, which included LaLiga, Copa del Rey, Champions League, and Club World Cup.
