Contact established: Sunderland has now made an offer to acquire the “instinctive” striker who scored 11 goals for Le Bris.

With Habib Diarra and Reinildo already en route, Sunderland has reportedly intensified their efforts to secure an 11-goal forward by putting forth an initial bid.

Potential signings for Sunderland following Diarra and Reinildo.

Both Diarra and Reinildo are notable acquisitions for a newly promoted team, with the former expected to leave a significant impact in Wearside next season. However, the Black Cats still face challenges ahead. Retaining their Premier League status will be a daunting endeavor – just ask the last six teams that tried – and additional investment will be crucial.

Despite having spent a club-record amount on Diarra, the Black Cats are said to be eyeing players like Abdoulaye Doucoure, who could be available at a low cost due to his current free agent status.

The French midfielder departed Everton at the conclusion of last season and may now have the opportunity to remain in the Premier League with Sunderland. This arrangement would benefit both sides. Doucoure’s experience would be a tremendous asset alongside younger players like Diarra, and he remains more than capable of competing in England’s top division.

However, he is not the only player on Sunderland’s radar. Those at the Stadium of Light are also reportedly interested in Bournemouth’s Hamed Traore. Similar to Diarra, the forward made a significant impact in Ligue 1 last season and could potentially secure a permanent transfer away from the Cherries, whether it be to Sunderland or another club this summer.

Ligue 1 appears to be a focal point for Regis Le Bris’ team as well, with further reports indicating that they have now made an initial offer to sign a talented striker from France’s premier league.

Sunderland has submitted an opening bid to sign Abline.

According to Foot Mercato, Sunderland has made an initial bid of €20m (£17m) to acquire Matthis Abline from FC Nantes this summer.

The Black Cats previously reached out to the French club regarding the forward earlier this summer and have now taken their first step towards securing his signature.

The question of whether their £17m offer will be sufficient is one that Sunderland may soon have an answer to.

Nantes has already informed Marseille that they will only part with their star striker for €50m (£43m) in the upcoming months, but it remains uncertain if clubs outside of France will need to meet such a high asking price.

Analyst Ben Mattinson describes Abline as an “instinctive finisher” who is “quick” and “direct.” Last season, Abline netted 11 goals across all competitions for Nantes and may now have the opportunity to replicate that performance in the Premier League when August arrives.
