Newcastle has made a €40 million bid for Galatasaray defender: Report.

Newcastle United has approached Galatasaray with a record transfer offer of 40 million euros to acquire the 25-year-old versatile player.

Throughout the summer, Newcastle United has focused on signing young talent for future development, but the Magpies still have tasks to complete before the transfer window closes on September 1.

Full-back Amar Dedic is set to enhance the right side of Matthias Jaissle’s defense as the latest addition, yet Newcastle continues to be linked with various center backs to bolster their defensive lineup.

In a new twist, Turkish outlet Fanatik reported on Tuesday that Newcastle has made a €40 million (£34.5 million) offer to Galatasaray for Ivory Coast international Wilfried Singo.

“Newcastle United, a Premier League club, has officially entered the competition for the 25-year-old versatile player,” Fanatik stated. “According to Sabah newspaper, the English club has allegedly approached Galatasaray with a record-breaking transfer fee of 40 million euros.”

Singo joined Galatasaray from Monaco last summer for around €30 million (£25.9 million), meaning Newcastle’s reported offer would provide the Turkish champions with a significant return on their investment after just one season.

However, Galatasaray is reportedly aiming to secure an even higher fee of approximately €60 million (£51.3 million) instead of accepting Newcastle’s lower offer right away.

“Galatasaray management is not hurrying to make a decision regarding the star central defender, who has a long-term contract with the club until 2030,” Fanatik reported.

Newcastle’s interest in Singo is not a recent development. The Magpies were first linked to the defender over a year ago while he was still at Monaco, when his market value was estimated at around €25 million — higher than his current valuation of €23 million.

Singo’s capability to function both centrally and as a right back would provide Jaissle with extra flexibility as Newcastle seeks to rejuvenate an aging defense. However, the concern remains whether investing €40 million in a player who may serve as backup for two already occupied positions in the Magpies squad is wise.

Would you raise the offer for Singo, secure him for €40 million, or opt to bypass him and concentrate on another defensive target? We welcome your thoughts in the comments section below.
