Liverpool aims to sign a Bundesliga player valued at £50.2 million, with the club willing to entertain offers for his transfer.

Liverpool is reportedly pursuing the acquisition of Bundesliga star Castello Lukeba, with a potential transfer fee of £50.2 million.

During the summer transfer window, Liverpool allowed Joel Matip to depart on a free transfer and did not find a replacement for the Cameroonian defender.

Additionally, they sold Sepp van den Berg to Brentford without securing a substitute.

Currently, there is growing concern regarding Virgil van Dijk’s contract situation.

He has been a standout performer this season and could leave the club for free next year if a new deal is not reached.

It is imperative for Liverpool to negotiate a new contract with the Dutch international, but regardless of his future, the club needs to invest in a top-quality center-back for the long term.

Several talented defenders have been linked to Liverpool, with Lukeba emerging as a prominent target. The 21-year-old has been impressive for RB Leipzig this season.

According to Spanish outlet Fichajes, Liverpool and Aston Villa are competing with Real Madrid and Chelsea to secure the French international’s services from the Bundesliga club.

The report indicates that Arne Slot has expressed significant interest in acquiring the young central defender, and Liverpool views him as a potential successor to Van Dijk.

Lukeba’s contract with Leipzig runs until 2028, and the club is reportedly open to selling him for approximately €60 million (£50.2 million).

This season, the former Lyon player has started five league matches, contributing to his team’s strong defensive record, which has seen them maintain four clean sheets while sitting at the top of the Bundesliga standings.

Given Liverpool’s successful acquisition of Dominik Szoboszlai from Leipzig last year, the question arises: will they make a £50.2 million bid for Castello Lukeba?
