Fabrizio Romano: Arsenal now progressing in bid to sign ‘absolutely ridiculous’ star as Berta gets creative…
Fabrizio Romano: Arsenal is advancing in their efforts to sign the ‘absolutely ridiculous’ star as Berta employs creative strategies.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Arsenal is adopting a creative approach in their negotiations with Aston Villa for Morgan Rogers, as they continue to make headway on the potential transfer.
Rogers had a standout 2025/26 season, netting 14 goals and providing 11 assists in 55 matches across all competitions for the Villans. His impressive performance has attracted interest from both the Gunners and Chelsea, with Arsenal currently seen as the frontrunners to secure the England international.
Reports indicate that personal terms have been tentatively agreed upon between Arsenal and the attacking midfielder, although the two clubs have yet to finalize a transfer fee.
This week, reports surfaced suggesting that Villa is demanding over £130 million for Rogers, a claim that has now been confirmed by Romano.
Arsenal ‘continues to push’ for Morgan Rogers.
Aston Villa is understandably hesitant to allow one of their most valuable players to leave and is seeking substantial compensation should he depart this summer.
A price tag of £130 million has been suggested, and Romano confirmed on his YouTube channel on Friday morning that this valuation is indeed accurate.
The transfer expert also noted that despite this potential hurdle, Arsenal ‘continues to push’ for Rogers, believing that a creative negotiation strategy could yield positive results.
“For Arsenal, the primary target remains Morgan Rogers,” Romano stated.
“Regarding Morgan Rogers, the information from the Telegraph in England is accurate; Aston Villa is looking to set a price around £130 million for him to leave this summer.
“Aston Villa is aware of Arsenal’s interest, as well as interest from other clubs, including Chelsea. However, at this moment, Arsenal has made significant progress on the player’s side for some time, and thus, Arsenal continues to push for Morgan Rogers.
Arsenal is looking for a way to negotiate, possibly through a clause or an alternative structure.
Arsenal aims to be innovative in their efforts to find a resolution for Morgan Rogers.
Aston Villa appears firm in their position that any interested parties for Rogers must pay a substantial amount to acquire the 23-year-old. Arsenal might believe that a ‘creative solution’ could be feasible, potentially involving a complicated arrangement with various add-ons or a sell-on clause.
Arsenal may also consider alternatives to Morgan Rogers at a similar price point.
It is evident from the reports that Arsenal is determined to secure Rogers. However, given the steep £130 million asking price, they should explore other options.
Rogers has been labeled as ‘absolutely ridiculous’ by football analyst Ben Mattinson, and while he showcases some impressive qualities, his actual performance does not align with that of a £130 million player.
The data indicates that Rogers does not stand out in any offensive metrics that would justify such a high fee. He does not score or assist at an elite level.
Reports have indicated that Arsenal might consider Bradley Barcola as an alternative to Rogers, as mentioned by Romano, which would certainly be more sensible given the proposed prices.
Other potential targets for the Gunners include Cristos Tzolis, Nico Williams, and Julian Alvarez.
