Fabrizio Romano has confirmed good news for Newcastle United, stating, ‘Here we go.’

Romano has also announced that a deal has been agreed for a Newcastle United favorite.

Martin Dubravka is poised to join Tottenham Hotspur following Burnley’s relegation to the Championship.

Tottenham Hotspur is preparing to acquire former Newcastle United goalkeeper Martin Dubravka on a free transfer.

Dubravka signed with Burnley on a one-year deal last year and made a strong impression despite the team’s relegation from the Premier League. The Slovakian goalkeeper sought first-team opportunities after losing his starting position at St James’ Park.

Having been signed in 2018 by Rafa Benitez, Dubravka quickly became the first-choice goalkeeper. He made 179 appearances over seven seasons as the Magpies frequently battled against relegation.

With Nick Pope’s arrival following the Saudi-backed takeover, Dubravka found himself limited to cup matches. Despite the team’s demotion, he had several memorable moments, including his standout performances in both Carabao Cup semi-final victories over Arsenal, helping Newcastle end a 70-year wait for domestic silverware.

Martin Dubravka is now on the verge of joining Spurs as the new season approaches. Italian sports journalist Fabrizio Romano reports that the 37-year-old will act as an experienced No.2 under Antonin Kinsky, with Guglielmo Vicario expected to depart.

Romano stated on X, “Martin Dubravka to Tottenham, here we go! Deal agreed for the former Burnley and Manchester United goalkeeper to join THFC.

The move was finalized today, with Dubravka set to be the backup goalkeeper at Spurs behind Kinski. Guglielmo Vicario will leave this summer.”

Additionally, Dubravka is not the only Newcastle favorite that Spurs are interested in acquiring. Last week, Tottenham had a bid of approximately £75 million rejected for Sandro Tonali.

Toon chiefs estimate the Italian’s value, who is also favored by Arsenal and Manchester City, to be around the £100 million mark. Roberto De Zerbi is leading a reconstruction effort in North London to prevent another relegation struggle.

Tonali is seen as the perfect playmaker for the midfield, although he will come at a high price. The midfielder’s agent, Beppe Riso, stated earlier this year that a transfer to Arsenal or Man City would be “likely” this summer.

A transfer to Spurs seems unusual considering their consecutive finishes in 17th place. However, they are certainly being proactive in the transfer market and, largely due to their stadium, can offer significantly higher salaries than Newcastle.
