JUST IN: This is what Pep Lijnders did to Arne Slot on the touchline during Man City v Liverpool Slot should be embarrassed…

Arne Slot should feel embarrassed after witnessing Pep Lijnders’ antics on the touchline during the match between Man City and Liverpool.

Pep Lijnders delivered one of the most challenging days for Arne Slot as Liverpool’s manager this season.

The acting Manchester City manager (with Pep Guardiola serving a touchline suspension) was seen exuberantly celebrating on the sidelines as his team outperformed the Reds in the FA Cup.

The Sky Blues secured a 4-0 victory over the Merseysiders, advancing to the semi-finals of the tournament.

Pep Lijnders puts Arne Slot in a humiliating position during the Man City vs Liverpool match.

While we can understand the thrill of such a City performance, it is somewhat painful to witness Jurgen Klopp’s former assistant reveling in the downfall of his previous club.

Lijnders shows no remorse; this type of celebration is inappropriate, particularly against a former team.

Lewis Steele from the Daily Mail observed the Dutchman ‘celebrating excessively’ towards his counterpart as Antoine Semenyo scored in the second half, extending the lead to 3-0.

3-0 Semenyo, and Lijnders celebrates exuberantly in Slot’s direction.

It is frankly embarrassing for Slot that his Liverpool team has shown so little resistance after conceding a penalty in the first half.

The fact that it is Pep Guardiola’s assistant, rather than Guardiola himself, who is humiliating the head coach of the Reds only exacerbates the situation.

Liverpool cannot continue under Arne Slot.

With Liverpool fans leaving before the hour mark and a former assistant celebrating with abandon on the touchline…

How can we genuinely expect to look back at the end of this season and say, “It’s alright – he’ll resolve it next season?”

This is not merely a temporary setback due to injuries, as we have seen in the past under Jurgen Klopp in 2020/21.

This represents a complete breakdown in mentality and intensity; a betrayal of the principles that once led Liverpool back to the pinnacle of the Premier League.

This is not a Liverpool team that requires just a few adjustments from the summer transfer window.

It requires a complete overhaul – and that must begin with the head coach.
