What Manchester United players did in the Anfield dressing room following their victory over Liverpool should leave a lasting impression on Arne Slot’s squad.

The players of Manchester United rightfully celebrated a significant win against Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday.

Ruben Amorim’s team achieved consecutive victories in the Premier League – marking the first time the Portuguese manager has accomplished this with the Red Devils.

Goals from Harry Maguire and Bryan Mbeumo, sandwiching Cody Gakpo’s equalizer in the second half, ensured the visitors took home all three points.

@farrellkeeling96 FT: Liverpool 1 – 2 Manchester United What on EARTH have we all just witnessed at Anfield this evening??

The Manchester United players applauded Harry Maguire in the dressing room.

After securing their first win at L4 in nearly ten years, it’s easy to see why United were in such high spirits at the final whistle.

Another three points in the English top division have narrowed the gap to Liverpool to just two points (between fourth and ninth), and crucially, they are now only one point away from the top four.

Match-winner Maguire received applause in the away dressing room, recognizing the pivotal role he played in Manchester United’s success.

To clarify: our fierce rivals are entirely justified in celebrating at Anfield. However, this should serve as a source of shame for Liverpool, having now lost four consecutive matches – to this Manchester United team, and to a goal from Harry Maguire, no less.

This was not a tightly contested match at Anfield between the Reds and Premier League contenders Arsenal.

This was Liverpool. And Manchester United.

What went wrong for Liverpool at Anfield?

Given the multitude of issues Arne Slot is currently confronting, it’s challenging to identify a single cause.

Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher have suggested that Virgil van Dijk is being supported by Ibrahima Konate.

Milos Kerkez has faced criticism for his performance at left-back, yet it can be argued that he is being misused in his role.

At the same time, Liverpool boasts world-class forwards who appear to be underperforming. Have they missed four significant opportunities? Striking the woodwork on three occasions?

One might label it as bad luck, yet it is challenging to maintain such an optimistic perspective following a fourth consecutive loss.
