According to Sky Sports, Crystal Palace’s Marc Guehi is likely to consider a transfer to Arne Slot’s Liverpool only if he is assured of being a regular starter.

This indicates that Slot has an opening for a new defender in his lineup, and the club has shown a long-standing interest in Guehi. However, a transfer seems improbable at this moment due to the player’s requirements.

As reported by Sky Sports, Liverpool may find it challenging to persuade Guehi to move to Anfield, even though personal terms have been agreed upon, as it seems unlikely they can promise him consistent first-team action.

The England international, referred to as a ‘superstar’, is keen to be among the first choices at his next club, similar to his current situation at Crystal Palace.

However, Liverpool already has Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate vying for positions at centre-back, making Guehi’s potential transfer contingent on the future of these two players.

Additionally, Crystal Palace is anticipated to demand a hefty fee for their captain.

Reports indicate that the Eagles value Guehi at nearly £70 million, although they recognize that this figure may need to be adjusted to around £45 million for the 24-year-old, who has just one year left on his current contract.

Meanwhile, there is increasing uncertainty regarding Konate’s future, as he also has a year remaining on his Merseyside contract.

Real Madrid has shown interest in acquiring the 26-year-old on a free transfer next year, and Liverpool could face the prospect of losing another key player for free, following Trent Alexander-Arnold, if they cannot secure a contract extension.
