Ryan Gravenberch addresses Real Madrid speculation following his agent’s surprising comments.

The Liverpool midfielder has spoken out for the first time regarding the rumors of a potential transfer to Real Madrid this summer, which were sparked by his agent, Jose Fortes Rodriguez.

In a recent interview with Marca, Rodriguez disclosed that Gravenberch aspires to play at the Santiago Bernabéu one day. He stated, ‘He’s good enough for Real Madrid.

We would love for him to play for them, but Liverpool would demand a significant fee. I know they’ve been monitoring him, but at this moment, it’s not feasible.’

This news has caused a stir among Liverpool supporters, particularly as Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk are reportedly nearing contract renewals, indicating the club’s commitment to a promising future.

However, Gravenberch’s situation is now one to keep an eye on. During a press conference after training, he finally addressed the rumors: ‘Naturally, being associated with a club like Real Madrid is flattering,’ the 22-year-old acknowledged.

‘They are among the top teams globally. However, my current focus is entirely on Liverpool.

I am content here, and we are creating something remarkable.’ Gravenberch, who has started in all 31 Premier League matches this season under Arne Slot, joined Liverpool from Bayern Munich in the summer of 2023 and has quickly become an essential player, contributing to the team’s 11-point lead at the top of the table.

His representative disclosed that Barcelona, a rival of Real Madrid, once attempted to recruit Gravenberch during his formative years. ‘When Ryan was 16, Barcelona reached out to us,’ Rodriguez recounted.

‘They expressed interest in signing him, but his father and I focused on his growth.

At Ajax, he was able to develop in ways that might not have been feasible at Barcelona.’

Gravenberch has played 81 matches for Liverpool, netting four goals and assisting five times.

Although there is evident interest from top clubs in Spain, his statements indicate that, for the time being, his loyalty lies firmly with Merseyside.
