Arsenal is leading the race to acquire £400,000-a-week star after discussions with Berta, who is open to a Premier League transfer.

After talks with Berta, Arsenal is positioned at the forefront to sign a player with a £400,000 weekly salary, and he is interested in moving to the Premier League.

Athletic Bilbao winger Nico Williams is reportedly receptive to a summer move to Arsenal following initial talks with sporting director Andrea Berta, as stated by journalist Graeme Bailey.

The Spanish forward’s representatives have indicated to interested Premier League teams that Williams is inclined to relocate to England this summer, although he has not yet made a definitive choice regarding his future.

The 22-year-old may choose to stay at Bilbao for another season if they qualify for the upcoming Champions League, despite ongoing interest from Arsenal and Chelsea.

Bilbao is currently in a strong position for Champions League qualification, sitting fourth in La Liga with three matches remaining.

According to Bailey, both Arsenal and Chelsea are at the forefront of the pursuit for Williams this summer, with Liverpool, Manchester City, and Newcastle also having engaged with his representatives.

The £400,000-a-week winger was previously linked to a move to the Emirates last summer, but Arsenal opted to sign Raheem Sterling on loan as a late addition to their wing options.

Williams has had a standout season with Bilbao, netting 11 goals and providing seven assists in 44 matches across all competitions.

He reportedly has a £50m release clause in his contract, which extends until June 2027.

Arsenal is poised to finalize the acquisition of Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi in the coming days and is preparing for a busy summer transfer window under Berta’s leadership.

Fabrizio Romano has reported that the Spanish executive is currently working on multiple deals, with Zubimendi anticipated to be the first signing of his tenure at the Emirates.
