Newcastle United advances for €25m midfielder – Affordable Tonali substitute

Newcastle reaches out to acquire €25m midfielder

Newcastle United initiates formal discussions for a Serie A talent. An economical replacement for Tonali, Newcastle has begun official negotiations for this star.

Interest from the Premier League in Parma’s Mandela Keita is on the rise, with Newcastle United entering the competition for the midfielder.

This week, Sport Witness reported that Everton and Leeds United are prepared to compete for the 24-year-old. Initially, Atalanta had targeted him but have since shifted their focus to Gianluca Gaetano.

This development has opened the door for English clubs, as Keita has made a significant impact in Serie A over the past two seasons. He has appeared 70 times for Parma, establishing himself as a key player in midfield under Carlos Cuesta.

Parma invested €12m to acquire him in 2024, and Newcastle United stands to benefit from a capital gain.

Serie A club aware of potential sale

ParmaToday has examined the midfielder’s situation, indicating that the Magpies have been inquiring about a transfer.

The report emphasizes that the list of clubs interested in Keita is expanding. He is characterized as an ideal candidate for Premier League football, with Parma ‘carefully assessing’ his potential transfer this summer. He could emerge as a primary candidate to depart the Italian club, even as Zion Suzuki is also rumored to be leaving.

Journalist Guglielmo Trupo has provided insights on this, confirming Newcastle United’s interest.

He believes the player will be priced between €20m and €25m.

Atalanta may still influence the situation. Despite securing a deal for Gaetano, TuttoAtalanta reports that they could pursue two additional midfielders.

Mandela is one option, although a transfer for AC Milan’s Ardon Jashari appears challenging.

Magpies’ pursuit is logical

Keita primarily plays as a number six but can effectively use his physicality in a number eight role. This versatility makes him a suitable candidate for Newcastle United, who are looking to fill the void left by Sandro Tonali.

They are also familiar with the Italian market. A transfer is unlikely to be costly unless other clubs submit formal bids in the coming weeks.
