Breaking news: Liverpool reportedly finalize midfielder transfer

Liverpool has allegedly reached an agreement to sell a key first-team player. This situation could progress swiftly.

Italian reports indicate that Liverpool has struck a deal to transfer Curtis Jones. The local talent has just one year left on his contract and is anticipated to exit the club this summer.

Jones has fallen out of favor under Arne Slot, with most of his appearances coming as a right-back due to Conor Bradley’s injury. The absence of discussions regarding a new contract has intensified speculation about his potential sale this summer.

Inter Milan attempted to acquire him last January, making an offer to Liverpool that was turned down, although it was believed that the Reds were considering it at the time.

They might have accepted the offer had they not been facing an injury crisis then. However, it now appears that the conditions are ripe for Jones to leave without significant complications.

Importantly, Corriere Dello Sport reports that Inter will not be the club to secure his services. They have been negotiating with Liverpool for an extended period, expecting a substantial discount due to Jones’s one-year contract.

This prolonged negotiation seems to have worked against them. CDS states that Nottingham Forest now ‘appear’ to have reached an agreement with Liverpool for the transfer.

Forest has the financial resources and a pressing need for a central midfielder following the sale of Elliot Anderson to Manchester City. Jones seems to be their preferred choice for an immediate replacement, capable of fitting into the midfield, albeit with a different playing style than Anderson.

Nevertheless, they should have no trouble meeting the asking price, and Jones’s homegrown status makes him a valuable investment. Ultimately, Liverpool may come to deeply regret this decision.

The Reds stand to lose a significant amount of money by allowing Jones to leave, while also parting with their only local star. A regrettable outcome, all things considered.
