Liverpool transfer updates: Seventh signing confirmed with medical on the horizon as Bayern targets two stars.

Liverpool has already invested £216 million to acquire six players during the summer transfer window, yet they show no signs of halting their activity, with another signing on the way.

The summer transfer window has kicked off with a flurry of activity at Liverpool, who have successfully signed six players and spent £216 million so far.

Following a relatively quiet summer in 2024, where Federico Chiesa was the sole addition, the Reds have utilized this period to strengthen their title-winning squad.

Arne Slot’s team has been enhanced by some thrilling acquisitions, including Florian Wirtz, Milos Kerkez, and Freddie Woodman as the latest additions.

Wirtz transferred from Bayer Leverkusen for £116 million, while Kerkez made the switch from Bournemouth to Merseyside in a £40 million deal.

They are joined by Jeremie Frimpong (Bayer Leverkusen: £29.5 million), Armin Pecsi (Puskas Akademia: £1.5 million), Giorgi Mamardashvili (Valencia: £29 million), and Woodman (Preston: free) on the list of new signings.

Additionally, more transactions are in the works. Sporting director Richard Hughes is maintaining momentum and has several more deals in progress.

Here, Mirror Football examines the latest news and rumors surrounding the club.

Agreement reached for Blackpool talent.

Liverpool has finalized a deal to acquire Blackpool midfielder Gabriel Schluter. According to Football Insider, the 16-year-old is expected to undergo a medical with the club next week ahead of a transfer for a six-figure sum.

Schluter has reportedly attracted the attention of numerous scouts, with Fulham and Stockport among the other clubs that reached out to Blackpool.

However, it is Liverpool that has emerged victorious in the race and will be hopeful that the young midfielder can thrive in their renowned academy.

Blackpool manager Steve Bruce recently expressed his frustration regarding larger clubs being able to lure young talents like Schluter away.

“When a Premier League team comes knocking, we understand. It’s disheartening, but those are the rules,” he stated.

“It wouldn’t be surprising if the young player attracted interest from higher-tier clubs, as he is an exceptional footballer. When a talented young player emerges, it doesn’t take long for the football community to take notice – the talent pool is quite limited.”

Bayern targets Reds duo

Bayern Munich may consider signing Luis Diaz or Cody Gakpo after missing out on other prospects. With Leroy Sane’s departure, Bayern is in need of wing reinforcements, yet they have been slow to act on other potential signings.

Sporting director Max Eberl has lost out on Jamie Gittens, who is moving from Borussia Dortmund to Chelsea, and Nico Williams, who is set to leave Athletic Bilbao for Barcelona.

According to Sky Sports Germany reporter Christian Falk, Diaz and Gakpo could be viable alternatives.

Diaz has been previously linked to Barcelona and has only two years remaining on his contract, while Gakpo’s agents have reportedly engaged in preliminary discussions with Eberl.

Although it is still early days, Bayern may be a club to keep an eye on in the upcoming weeks.

Konate contract impasse

Liverpool recently succeeded in securing new contracts for Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah, but they have not had the same success with Ibrahima Konate.

The French defender has turned down the initial proposal and was said to be ‘disappointed’ with the club’s assessment of his worth.

Konate is the regular central defensive partner of Van Dijk and played a crucial role in the title victory. However, he is now entering the last year of his contract, leading to a deadlock.

As reported by FootMercato, Konate is seeking a ‘change of scenery’ next summer and plans to let his contract run down. Real Madrid is among the clubs showing interest in the center-back.
