Liverpool player ratings vs Newcastle
Alisson: 7
Did not face a single shot on target but will appreciate another clean sheet.
Trent Alexander-Arnold: 7 (Quansah, 77)
Newcastle adopted a cautious approach early on, allowing Alexander-Arnold the opportunity to deliver precise forward passes. He defended effectively against Joe Willock.
Virgil van Dijk: 7
Although he had a wayward cross-field pass intercepted in the first half, he dominated the physical contest against Callum Wilson, despite Wilson having a few chances.
Ibrahima Konate: 6
Was caught off guard by a long ball to Wilson and was fortunate not to concede. He made a few early errors but settled into the game as it progressed.
Kostas Tsimikas: 6
Had the chance to impress in place of Andrew Robertson but produced a rather average performance.
Ryan Gravenberch: 7 (Endo, 77)
Demonstrated his strengths consistently, always tidy and looking to draw fouls. A solid outing for him.
Alexis Mac Allister: 8
Displayed his tactical awareness and skill against a Newcastle midfield that has troubled other top teams.
He initiated and capped off the move that led to his goal, striking past Nick Pope for Liverpool’s second.
Mohamed Salah: 9
The Egyptian player had no specific goal, yet his playmaking was exceptional. He exuded confidence, attempting creative passes and exploiting small openings.
His composure was evident when assisting Mac Allister, and he nearly set up another opportunity with a stunning outside-of-the-foot cross to Luis Diaz.
Dominik Szoboszlai: 8
In recent weeks, he has truly thrived in the No. 10 position, potentially providing Liverpool with a much-needed boost as the season progresses.
He scored his fourth goal in eight matches with a precise low shot into the bottom corner and nearly added another with a curling attempt towards the far post.
Luis Diaz: 9
He delivered a fantastic assist for Szoboszlai, driving into the box and delivering a low pass. Diaz initiated a swift counter-attack before finding Diogo Jota.
His determination was evident as he tackled on the halfway line, surged forward, and set up a chance for Tsimikas. Diaz was instrumental from the left wing.
Diogo Jota: 7 (Gakpo, 62)
He could have capitalized on a couple of early chances but worked hard defensively and created a solid opportunity for Szoboszlai.
