Diomande’s decision

The ongoing saga regarding Yan Diomande’s future has progressed towards a possible move to Anfield. According to German publication Bild, the Ivorian’s agency, Roc Nation, is urging RB Leipzig to accept Liverpool’s offer of €100million (£86.7m) for the forward.

This proposal was rejected by the Bundesliga club, which is reportedly seeking a fee closer to €120m (£104.1m) to allow the sale of their star player. Currently, the winger is making an impact for Ivory Coast at the World Cup and previously complicated Liverpool’s chances of signing him by expressing his admiration for Paris Saint-Germain.

The Champions League holders are believed to be competing for Diomande, who stated: “Paris Saint-Germain is a team I’ve loved since I was a child. My father supports Paris Saint-Germain, and it’s a team I admire as a football fan.

“I would be delighted to come and play in Paris with one of the top clubs… It’s always enjoyable to visit here, especially since I speak French, which I believe would make adaptation easier. So, why not?”

Cody Gakpo was among several Liverpool players who faced considerable criticism for their subpar performances this season. Nevertheless, the Dutch forward has bounced back from his club struggles to have an impressive start to his World Cup journey with the Netherlands.
