Liverpool in talks to sign “world-class” £60m CF, he’d be even better than Gyokeres – Report…

Liverpool is in discussions to acquire a “world-class” CF for £60m, who would surpass Gyokeres – opinion
He would outshine Gyokeres: Liverpool is negotiating to sign a “world-class” CF
At one point during the summer transfer window, Liverpool appeared to be leading the pack in the pursuit of Eintracht Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekitike.
The club is viewed as the frontrunner to secure the French forward, although Chelsea and Manchester United are also engaged in talks with the Bundesliga team and the player’s agents.
The competition is wide open, and the Anfield club is likely feeling frustrated that they cannot make progress, especially with Darwin Nunez still firmly part of Arne Slot’s squad.
The Uruguayan striker is anticipated to depart this summer, but despite interest from Serie A and the Saudi Pro League, tangible advancements have yet to materialize.
Fortunately, the situation regarding Ekitike is unlikely to change soon, as his current club remains steadfast on their €100m (£85m) asking price – a figure they seem reluctant to lower.
With Nunez nearly certain to leave, it would be prudent for the Reds to explore other options, and Viktor Gyokeres has emerged as a potential candidate.
Liverpool’s interest in Viktor Gyokeres
Newcastle United has qualified for the Champions League and possesses the ability to reinforce their hefty £150m valuation of Alexander Isak.
As a result, alternatives such as Ekitike and Sporting’s Gyokeres have been identified, with the latter being a particularly appealing choice, given his impressive record of 97 goals in 102 appearances for the Portuguese side.
Arsenal and Manchester United have demonstrated more substantial interest than Liverpool in recent weeks, even though the Reds are eager, with the Gunners likely encouraged by the striker’s suggestion that he prefers a move to the Emirates over Old Trafford.
There is no question that Gyokeres would be an improvement over Nunez, whose inherent talent has not been sufficient to succeed in England’s top division. However, Gyokeres is 27 years old, and Sporting officials are insisting on his €100m (£85m) release clause, which places him in the same category as Ekitike.
Reports indicate that Liverpool reached out to the Sweden international back in May, but there are worries that his extraordinary scoring rate may not translate well to life in the Premier League. This concern is why Liverpool is pursuing a promising upgrade.
Liverpool initiates discussions for Nunez’s replacement.
According to the latest updates from TEAMtalk, Liverpool believes they have discovered a method to offload Nunez while simultaneously addressing their need for a number nine.
This involves proposing a deal that includes the 25-year-old and Federico Chiesa to Napoli in exchange for Victor Osimhen, with preliminary discussions already taking place regarding a potential swap.
Osimhen, aged 26, has just finished a successful loan period with Galatasaray following his departure from the Naples club, and a summer transfer is anticipated.
With a valuation of £60m, the Nigerian striker is more budget-friendly than the other forwards mentioned, and if Nunez, Chiesa, or both are part of the deal, he would be even more affordable.
Reasons for Liverpool to acquire Victor Osimhen.
Frugality has been a point of criticism directed at FSG for some time, but it is hard to argue that Liverpool’s owners have not been ambitious in the transfer market this month.
Nonetheless, there is a lot happening within the Anfield offices, and the financial resources are not limitless. Osimhen presents a cost-effective option for a top-tier striker.
While Ekitike has significant potential, the French player is not as polished as Napoli’s striker at this moment. Additionally, Osimhen may also be more experienced than Gyokeres, who has yet to establish himself at 27 in one of Europe’s top five leagues.
Indeed, the tall centre-forward has been praised for his “world-class” finishing by Dougie Critchley of Sky Sports, and this is precisely what Liverpool has been missing at the forefront of their attack.
However, scoring goals is not the only strength of Osimhen.
He is powerful, sturdy, and more dynamic than he may appear at first glance; the £83k-per-week striker enjoys pushing forward with the ball and creating opportunities for his teammates.
There is no doubt that Gyokeres is an exceptional finisher and well-rounded in his attacking play, but Liverpool would be taking a risk by opting for him in the Premier League instead of someone more established like Osimhen. After all, the Premier League champions require only the very best.
