Liverpool is in discussions to acquire a £55m star from the France World Cup team, who would be an ideal partner for Barcola.

Liverpool is negotiating to sign a star from the France World Cup team.

£55m target: Reasons why Liverpool is seeking the perfect partner for Barcola.

With Mohamed Salah no longer part of Liverpool, Jurgen Klopp’s renowned attacking trio has come to an end at Anfield.

Sadio Mane and Bobby Firmino are now playing in the Gulf region, and with Salah reaching 34 years of age, he may soon follow suit, marking the beginning of a new chapter at this late stage.

Under the leadership of Andoni Iraola, Liverpool is entering a new era, but they will need to bolster their squad with additional attacking options, especially since Alexander Isak struggled last season and Hugo Ekitike is out until the end of the year.

FSG has a strategy in place. Victor Munoz has already been acquired from Osasuna for £34.5m, but Liverpool is eyeing a more significant addition, targeting Paris Saint-Germain’s Bradley Barcola.

A move for Yan Diomande is off the table, as the RB Leipzig winger prefers to join PSG. However, if PSG adds him to their roster, it could prompt Barcola to leave, leading to a direct competition between Liverpool and Arsenal.

The 23-year-old has been instrumental in building a dynasty under Luis Enrique, netting 34 goals and providing 28 assists during PSG’s last two title-winning campaigns.

He has participated in all of Les Bleus’ World Cup matches thus far, but he is not the only French player on Iraola’s radar.

While Liverpool must focus on acquiring new forwards, other positions also require attention, particularly the right-back spot, which currently lacks depth.

According to TEAMtalk, Liverpool is among the clubs approached by agents looking to generate interest in Barcelona’s Jules Kounde this summer.

The 27-year-old is currently attracting interest from Arsenal and Manchester City, while Chelsea has a longstanding interest after nearly acquiring the former Sevilla defender in 2022.

The asking price from La Blaugrana has decreased from £70m to £55m for Kounde. This presents an opportunity that Liverpool may not want to miss, especially with uncertainties at right-back posing a challenge for Iraola in his inaugural season.

Reasons for Kounde to join Barcola at Liverpool

Liverpool currently has two right-backs, Jeremie Frimpong and Conor Bradley, but both have faced injury issues over the past year, revealing a significant vulnerability in Arne Slot’s strategy.

Kounde, known for his versatility and balanced wingplay, has been praised as “one of the best defenders in the world” by his former coach, Xavi.

Liverpool has shown solid interest in Barcola, and with Munoz already signed and Cody Gakpo likely to stay despite a lackluster year and interest from Tottenham Hotspur,

Barcola would benefit from having such a well-rounded player behind him at Anfield. During the World Cup, Kounde achieved a 100% success rate in dribbles and averaged five duels won per game with a 67% success rate.

Last season, Liverpool struggled to find a reliable right-back, often relying on Dominik Szoboszlai and Curtis Jones as temporary solutions. Additionally, Salah has been lacking the necessary physicality and athleticism further up the pitch, and the combination of Barcola and Kounde could yield positive results for a team in transition.

Kounde and Barcola have formed a strong partnership for Les Bleus, and FSG is keen to capitalize on this ahead of the upcoming season.

If Liverpool secures the PSG forward, it seems probable that he will play some time on the right, where Kounde would assist in his development.
