Liverpool possesses a significant advantage in the competition to secure a priority signing over Newcastle United.

Newcastle United may encounter another setback in their transfer pursuits, as Liverpool appears poised for a dramatic hijack, according to reports.

Liverpool possesses a significant advantage in the competition to secure a priority signing over Newcastle United.

Liverpool is considering a move for Diomande’s alternative, valued at £43.1m, amid interest from Newcastle.

Reports indicate that Liverpool has entered the race alongside Newcastle to acquire Cologne winger Said El Mala, as they seek alternatives to their ideal target, Yan Diomande.

The Reds have already secured Victor Munoz after intercepting Newcastle’s attempt to sign the Spanish international winger, but they are eager to bolster their attacking options further.

Andoni Iraola’s team is on the lookout for players who can eventually succeed Mo Salah. TEAMtalk has consistently highlighted Diomande as their primary target, but RB Leipzig is complicating matters.

The Bundesliga club ideally wishes to retain Diomande for at least another season and is demanding a Bundesliga-record fee of €148million (£128m) for his transfer.

According to German source FussballDaten, Liverpool is now expressing interest in Cologne’s El Mala, who is reportedly valued at €50million (£43.1m).

The 19-year-old has made a mark in Germany with his speed, technical skills, and goal-scoring ability, having netted 27 goals in 81 senior appearances, and is regarded as a promising talent capable of making an immediate impact in the Premier League.

The report suggests that Liverpool sees El Mala, who can operate as a winger on either side or as an attacking midfielder, as an exciting alternative to Diomande. However, they are not without competition.

Liverpool is competing with two Premier League rivals in the pursuit of El Mala.

TEAMtalk transfer insider, Fraser Fletcher, disclosed earlier this month that Newcastle is also interested in El Mala.

Newcastle United have been monitoring the Germany under-21 international throughout the season and have engaged in discussions with his representatives as they contemplate a potential acquisition.

Nottingham Forest and Newcastle have already engaged in discussions with the player’s representatives, while Brentford’s interest ceased when the London club retracted due to complications related to the deal earlier this summer.

His parents, who are actively involved in representing him, remain pivotal in the negotiations and are eager for any interested club to also consider acquiring his older brother, Malek El Mala, 21, who is also with Cologne.

This family dynamic has complicated the negotiations and is believed to have influenced Brentford’s choice to withdraw.

Given this context, it will be interesting to observe whether Liverpool will solidify their interest in El Mala by making an offer.

If the Reds delay their approach, they risk another Premier League team stepping in to secure the talented young player.
