Kevin De Bruyne expresses a warm message to Mo Salah as they officially become teammates at Liverpool.

Mo Salah playfully encourages De Bruyne to consider a transfer to Liverpool, stating, ‘We have a spot for him!’ De Bruyne is set to be available on a free transfer this summer after Manchester City chose to part ways with the Belgian star.

Salah has humorously suggested that Liverpool could be a potential destination for De Bruyne as he prepares to leave City.

After a decade with Manchester City, De Bruyne will conclude his tenure at the end of the season, having significantly contributed to six Premier League titles, two FA Cups, and the Champions League victory in 2023.

He has also been honored as the Premier League Player of the Season on two occasions.

However, the last two years have posed challenges for the 33-year-old due to injuries, and he has seemingly lost the full confidence of manager Pep Guardiola, often finding himself on the bench.

Although De Bruyne was open to staying at the Etihad Stadium, the club’s management decided against offering him a new contract, leading to his departure on a free transfer at the season’s end.

The midfielder has been linked with a move to Major League Soccer in the U.S., but Salah has playfully indicated that Liverpool could be a viable option for him.

‘I want to congratulate him on his career,’ Salah remarked to Sky Sports. ‘He has done an incredible job at City and has been a great asset to the league.

I genuinely wish him the best… and we have a spot for him!’ However, Salah acknowledged that this scenario is unlikely, citing the ‘philosophy’ of Liverpool’s owners, FSG, who typically avoid signing players over the age of 30.

‘I know how they have handled players over 30 in the past. I didn’t expect to stay myself. It’s not a negative thing. We can see how they have approached this situation historically,’ he added.

The negotiations progressed rapidly after six months, and since January, the situation has been improving steadily.

It took some time, and I believe the club was assessing my capabilities to determine if I could still contribute effectively.

De Bruyne expressed disappointment towards the City management for not offering him a new contract, stating he was ‘surprised’ by their choice.

In April, he remarked, ‘Throughout the entire year, I did not receive any offers from them, and the club made a decision. Naturally, I was somewhat taken aback, but I must accept it.

I genuinely believe I can still perform at this level, as I have demonstrated, yet I recognize that clubs must make their own choices.

It was just half a week before I reported it, and it was an uncomfortable situation, especially since my family was away on holiday.

It felt a bit strange, but it is what it is. I don’t feel uncomfortable about it. I conveyed to them that I believe I still have much to offer.

Although I’m not 25 anymore, I still feel capable of fulfilling my role. I am open to any opportunities moving forward, as I need to consider the bigger picture.

I am evaluating sporting factors, family considerations, and everything collectively to determine what makes the most sense for both me and my family.

I still feel I can compete at a high level, but I will need to make a decision once I have more clarity.
