Fabrizio Romano: Arsenal has initiated a £55m bid for ‘one of the best midfielders in the world’.

Arsenal has made a £55m offer to acquire Newcastle United midfielder Bruno Guimaraes, with Fabrizio Romano providing the latest updates on the situation overnight.

So far this summer transfer window, Arsenal’s primary focus has been on enhancing their attacking options, and the club is anticipated to formally pursue Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers shortly.

Additionally, the Gunners are engaged in ongoing discussions with Leicester City regarding a deal for 16-year-old attacking prodigy Jeremy Monga, who is likely to depart the King Power Stadium following the Foxes’ relegation to League One.

It seems that the north London club is also set to secure a new central midfielder for the upcoming season, with recent connections to players such as Bournemouth’s Alex Scott, AS Roma’s Manu Kone, Lille’s Ayyoub Bouaddi, and Newcastle United’s Sandro Tonali.

However, it is actually Tonali’s teammate at Newcastle that Arsenal has approached, as they aim to enhance the quality and depth of their midfield in their quest to defend their Premier League title successfully and advance further in the Champions League.

Craig Hope was the first to report this story on Thursday evening, with Romano now offering additional insights into the move.

Romano: Arsenal Makes Direct Approach for Bruno Guimaraes.

Arsenal’s contact to sign Bruno Guimaraes came as a surprise on Thursday night, especially since there had been no recent links, with Tonali being the more frequently mentioned Newcastle player in connection with a move to the Emirates in recent months.

The Magpies are striving to avert a player exodus this summer, with Tonali being a prime target for Tottenham Hotspur, and Anthony Gordon already having left to join Barcelona.

Lewis Hall and Tino Livramento have also been rumored to be considering moves away from St James’ Park.

During his YouTube channel update on Thursday night, Romano shared what he knows about Arsenal’s approach for the Brazilian.

He stated: “I can verify the information circulating in England, as reported by Craig Hope regarding Newcastle and Arsenal’s interest in Bruno Guimaraes.

“It is accurate that Arsenal made an inquiry about Bruno Guimaraes. This was a direct approach from both the player and the club side with Newcastle, indicating that Arsenal has reached out regarding Bruno Guimaraes. My understanding is that they aimed to negotiate a deal around £55m, but Newcastle is not willing to sell the player for that amount.

“Newcastle has shut the door on this inquiry from Arsenal. We will now see if Arsenal decides to return or if there are any developments at this time. Bruno Guimaraes is leaving everything in Newcastle’s hands and is showing respect towards the club.”

Bruno Guimaraes Would Be an Excellent Signing for Arsenal

Bruno Guimaraes possesses extensive Premier League experience, demonstrates leadership, and consistently gives his all on the field.

It’s no surprise that Arteta seems to have a strong interest in the Brazilian international, who is recognized as one of the most prominent figures in the Premier League.

The 28-year-old has even been described as ‘one of the best midfielders in the world’ by Gunners forward Gabriel Martinelli, who is familiar with him from their time together on the national team.

£55m would have been a reasonable fee to secure Guimaraes, but it seems that significantly more will be required to persuade Newcastle to part with their captain and one of their most valuable assets.
