“Certainly,” a journalist claims Arsenal is set to acquire an £85m star within the next two weeks.

Arsenal, along with sporting director Andrea Berta, is actively working behind the scenes, and fans are keenly anticipating significant new signings following a disappointing Premier League title challenge.

Mikel Arteta has already indicated the necessity for Gunners officials to enhance his squad in specific areas, with the Spaniard openly forecasting a “big” few months ahead in the transfer window.

The signing of Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi has been finalized after months of discussions that began in January.

Despite some worries regarding his recent ambiguous remarks, the transfer is reportedly on track, with Arsenal considering the deal for the Spaniard as “done and signed” (David Ornstein).

Arsenal is also thought to be nearing an agreement for Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga (BBC), although they are still awaiting official confirmation from north London. However, much of the focus is on their search for a striker.

Last week, Sporting CP’s Viktor Gyokeres was reportedly the subject of a rejected bid from Arsenal, as per the Portuguese newspaper Record, with Berta seemingly working on deals for both the 27-year-old and RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko simultaneously.

As reported by Romano, discussions are still ongoing regarding the latter, despite the buzz surrounding Gyokeres, following the Slovenia international’s career-best Bundesliga season, where he scored 21 goals across all competitions.

Nonetheless, there are some inconsistencies regarding his valuation, and he could prove to be an expensive acquisition, with Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg stating that Sesko’s final price might reach up to £85 million, despite claims of a release clause lower than that amount.

Arsenal could potentially secure Benjamin Sesko within the next fortnight.

According to talkSPORT’s Ben Jacobs, during a call with the broadcasting giant this week, an Arsenal pursuit for Sesko is still very much alive, and they may finalize a deal for the 22-year-old before the end of June.

“I believe it ultimately depends on the player. If a fee for Sesko is agreed upon, I think that deal could actually be finalized when the transfer window opens on June 16th,” Jacobs stated.

“I’m not suggesting it will happen on the very first day the window reopens, but it could certainly take place in the last two weeks of this month.”

Sesko is a player that Arsenal had interest in last summer and made an attempt to sign in January (Ben Jacobs), so he has been on Arteta’s radar for quite some time.

However, the negotiations seem to be progressing slowly, which may indicate some underlying issues behind the scenes.

The news that Gyokeres is very eager to make a move to N5 in his place is a positive development for Arsenal, as their search for a striker is shaping up to be one of the key narratives of the summer.
