Liverpool is close to finalizing a £34m deal for the dream replacement of Trent Alexander-Arnold. The Reds have acted swiftly to secure their top target. Liverpool is poised to finalize the acquisition of Jeremie Frimpong, the ideal replacement for the departing Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Liverpool have finalized their first summer transfer by agreeing to sign Jeremie Frimpong as a replacement for Trent Alexander-Arnold, who is set to leave the club.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Liverpool is in advanced negotiations with Bayer Leverkusen regarding the summer transfer of their standout full-back Jeremie Frimpong.

The club is currently discussing the structure of the player’s €35 million (£29m/$39m) release clause with the former German champions and has also begun conversations with the player’s representatives.

Frimpong is reportedly eager to join the Merseyside team. Last week, Alexander-Arnold was not included in Arne Slot’s starting lineup against Arsenal, as the Dutch coach opted for Conor Bradley in the right-back position.

Slot even likened Bradley to one of the world’s top right-backs, Achraf Hakimi of Paris Saint-Germain. Following Trent Alexander-Arnold’s announcement of his departure from Anfield at the conclusion of the 2024-25 season, Liverpool has been actively seeking a quality defender to fill the void left by the English right-back.

L’Equipe previously indicated that, in addition to Frimpong, they are also considering AS Monaco’s Vanderson.

The Reds have swiftly moved to secure their top target, with reports indicating that discussions have progressed positively and a five-year contract is on the horizon for the 24-year-old right-back from Bayer Leverkusen.

Frimpong’s release clause of €40 million (£33.6 million) has allowed Liverpool to negotiate directly with him, anticipating Alexander-Arnold’s departure after a long association with the club.

The summer transfer window opens on June 1, allowing Frimpong to officially join before it closes on June 10 and reopens on June 16.
