Alex Manninger’s career

Manninger is perhaps best remembered in England for his time with Arsenal as a young player, where he played a crucial role in their double-winning season of 1997/98.

Although he wasn’t a particularly prominent name before joining, Manninger delivered a series of impressive performances late in the season when he was called upon to replace the injured David Seaman.

Gunners supporters fondly remember Manninger for his contributions to the club’s success in the Premier League and FA Cup that season, and they will undoubtedly be heartbroken to learn of the passing of this beloved former player.

The former Austria international also served as a backup goalkeeper at Liverpool during the 2016/17 season, while also making a name for himself with various Serie A clubs, including Juventus.

It is devastating news that Alex Manninger has died following a car accident. He played a vital role in the 1998 double, stepping up when the team needed him with David Seaman sidelined.
