According to a notable report by respected journalist Mike Verweij from De Telegraaf, Liverpool is actively pursuing Tottenham defender Micky van de Ven.

The Reds are keeping a close eye on the situation as they aim to revamp parts of their defensive lineup under newly appointed manager Andoni Iraola.

Both Liverpool and Barcelona are vying for Tottenham’s Micky van de Ven.

Tottenham manager Roberto De Zerbi, who assumed control at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium late last season, considers the speedy Dutchman an essential cornerstone of his tactical vision.

De Zerbi, however, does not see Van Hecke as a substitute for Van de Ven. Rather, it seems that the Italian coach envisions pairing the two Netherlands international center-backs to create a strong and resilient backbone in his revamped defense.

Former scout Micky Brown has also suggested that De Zerbi would be hesitant to let him go. He stated:

“Everyone is aware of what he contributes to the team; his incredible speed allows him to recover and execute crucial last-minute tackles, which can be vital.

“This is why he has attracted significant interest; there have been discussions involving Liverpool and other clubs, which might tempt him to consider a transfer.

“From Tottenham’s perspective, with De Zerbi’s arrival, there is hope that they can persuade him to remain.

“The new manager aims to build his team around him and include him in the project he is developing.

“He can collaborate with him to address certain aspects of his game, particularly if he can manage his pace effectively and avoid charging up the pitch unnecessarily.

“He will aspire to have the opportunity to do this, which means preventing any potential exits for the time being and trying to convince him that staying is still a viable option.

“It may prove challenging, and we will see how it unfolds, but from Spurs’ standpoint, they will be very unwilling to part with him.”

This leaves Spurs in a tight position, as any incoming offer would need to be extraordinarily substantial to trigger a sale.
