Arsenal expresses unexpected interest in a La Liga midfielder who has a £50m release clause.

The club has made a move to acquire a “world-class” central midfielder valued at £50m, who is considered a greater talent than Zubimendi – according to some opinions.

A more prominent player than Zubimendi: Arsenal is pursuing a £50m midfielder.

The upcoming months could be crucial for Arsenal and Mikel Arteta.

Having guided his team to a third consecutive second-place finish in the Premier League this season, it seems imperative for the club to provide substantial support to him and the squad during this summer’s transfer window to ensure they can succeed next year.

Fortunately, this appears to be in motion, as the board has already extended Gabriel Magalhães’ contract, is nearing a deal for Kepa Arrizabalaga at just £5m, and most thrillingly, seems to have secured the signing of Martin Zubimendi.

The Spanish international is set to be a fantastic addition to the Gunners’ roster, but if recent reports are accurate, the club is now eyeing another midfield talent, someone who is even more gifted than the Real Sociedad player.

Arsenal is taking steps to sign a midfield powerhouse.

It seems like Arsenal has been attempting to sign Zubimendi for ages, with some of the earliest connections to the Spanish international dating back to January 2023.

However, in January of this year, Sami Mokbel reported that the club had nearly finalized a transfer for the Real Sociedad star, who turned down Liverpool just last summer.

While neither club has officially confirmed the deal, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano disclosed just a few days ago that the 26-year-old will cost the Gunners approximately £55m, to be paid in installments.

While this is certainly thrilling news, it appears that the North Londoners may not be done with their midfield overhaul, as reports now indicate that the club is interested in signing Eduardo Camavinga.

According to journalist Sebastien Vidal, Arsenal has shown significant interest in the Real Madrid superstar, as revealed in a recent report.

He stated that the Gunners have already initiated contact regarding the player, but the Spanish club will only consider selling if a substantial offer is presented, which other reports suggest could be around £50 million.

Acquiring him would not be an inexpensive or straightforward transfer, but considering Camavinga’s talent, it is a pursuit worth undertaking, particularly since he is regarded as a greater talent than Zubimendi.

Why Camavinga is considered a greater talent than Zubimendi

It is essential to note that both midfielders are exceptionally skilled footballers, and Arsenal would gain significantly from signing either. However, when evaluating raw talent, the Real Madrid player appears to have a slight advantage, supported by several factors.

Firstly, despite being four years younger than the Spaniard, the Frenchman has already accomplished much more in club football, having won two La Liga titles, a Club World Cup, and notably, two Champions League titles.

Additionally, he was not merely a spectator during these victories; he made ten appearances in Real’s 21/22 Champions League campaign and 11 appearances, including nine starts, in their successful 23/24 season.

Furthermore, the maestro from Cabinda has earned more senior caps for France than the Basque player has for Spain. Although he lacks a European Championship title, he did participate in the 2022 World Cup Final, which is arguably the most significant match in global sports.

Lastly, beyond his measurable achievements, the “world-class” star of Los Blancos, as described by talent scout Jacek Kulig, possesses superior underlying statistics, further indicating he is a more significant talent.

For instance, the former Stade Rennais standout not only generates a higher figure for non-penalty goals plus assists but also records more key passes and wins more tackles per 90 minutes.

In other terms, the young Frenchman is a well-rounded midfielder capable of assisting the defense before making a forward charge – just observe his progressive carries – and delivering a decisive pass to one of his teammates or scoring a goal himself.

In conclusion, although Zubimendi is set to be an excellent acquisition, Arsenal would benefit from also securing Camavinga, as he seems to possess even greater potential.
