Arsenal have reportedly reached an agreement on personal terms with Viktor Gyokeres for an £80 million transfer, offering him a deal worth £200,000 per week.

According to reports from CaughtOffside, the Gunners have successfully outmaneuvered interest from clubs in Saudi Arabia, the Premier League, and Serie A, convincing Gyokeres to select them as his preferred destination.

The Sporting CP forward has turned down more lucrative offers from other teams, indicating that the North London club is his top choice.

The 27-year-old has emerged as one of Europe’s most effective strikers in recent seasons, concluding the last campaign with an impressive tally of 54 goals in 52 matches across all competitions.

He is among the two strikers being considered by Mikel Arteta, who is also looking at RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko.

Arsenal has reached a verbal agreement with Gyokeres regarding a contract that would see him earn £10 million annually, along with performance-related bonuses. His weekly salary would amount to £200,000, positioning him as the club’s fifth-highest earner, surpassing Bukayo Saka, who earns £195,000 weekly, according to Capology.

Arteta has been instrumental in persuading the Swedish international to join the Emirates, assuring him that he will play a key role in the team’s attacking strategy.

Manchester United has shown interest in Gyokeres since Ruben Amorim took over from Erik ten Hag in November.

However, the former Sporting player seems to favor a transfer to the Gunners, although he has not completely dismissed the possibility of a move to Old Trafford.

With Arsenal set to compete in next season’s Champions League, they are eager to challenge for the Premier League title again after finishing in second place.

It is clear that a new striker is essential to help propel Arteta’s squad towards significant trophy achievements, and Gyokeres appears to be the ideal candidate.

Sporting is believed to be seeking up to £80m for the ex-Coventry City forward, who is currently in conflict with the Liga Portugal club regarding his valuation.

His representative, Hasan Cetinkaya, is engaged in ‘advanced negotiations’ with the North London team to attempt to conclude the transfer.
